“Best Vacation Stay EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2010

Where to start. . . this hotel was amazing in every way! We stayed for 4 nights during our visit to Disney Land at the most magical time of year! The entire city was decorated with lights making everything so joyful! The parking lot was large and easy to use. There are temporary and smaller spaces near the hotel entrance, and further back into the single entrance lot were larger spaces for pick-up trucks. The registration processes was very quick and the front desk staff were very kind and helpful! There were bell carts available to take our mega ton of luggage up to the room which was awesome (by the way, we left with twice as much as we brought!). Downstairs across from the elevators the hotel offers a guest laundry, an arcade, and a business center with an ATM. There is a fitness center which is small, but has everything you need to get a complete workout. Outside is a nice pool area with a large pool, a kiddie pool, and a hot tub (which sadly in the cold air was not very hot!). There is also a BBQ area and a tennis court which we did not get to use. Now, to the hotel room! Our group included me, my husband, our two kids (5 and 1 1/2), and my mother, so we booked the kids suite. We were in Rm. 301 which is on the 3rd floor and all the way to the end of the hall with a view overlooking the pool. Upon opening the door we were greeted with the smell of a fresh clean room. I am VERY particular about cleanliness in a hotel (especially after all the talk on TV about bed bugs! Yuck!), and I could not find a single thing to complain about! The door opens into the kitchen area and then on into the living room area which had a TV, club chair and pull-out couch (Which we didn't use). We were surprised to find a fully stocked kitchen (sans food) with a fridge, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. The cupboards were even stocked with dishes so we didn't have to worry about paper and plastic dishes. The desk area was convenient and the internet was easy to hook up to, but rather slow. Off to the left of the main room is the pocket door into the kids room which had a bunk bed, a small table and stools, and a TV. Inside the room was the door and entrance into the kids bathroom. On the left side of the main room was the master bedroom which had a super comfy king sized bed and a large TV, a separate sink/closet area, and then another separate area (with a door) for the toilet and tub. I had trouble finding an accurate description of this hotel before we went, and I was not even positive that the two bedrooms were completely separate. They thankfully were, and each closed off with a door for privacy. The hotel offers a similar room with two single beds instead of the bunk bed, but our kids had tons of fun climbing the ladder! Anther plus to this hotel was the complimentary food! The breakfast buffet was awesome every morning and in the evenings from 5-7 they offered dinner as well! Breakfast included waffles, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, sausage, eggs, hash-browns, scrambled eggs with veggies, juice, soda, coffee, milk, cottage cheese, and fruit if I remembered everything! We only had a chance to eat the dinner once, and it was a baked potato with as many toppings as you can imagine like bacon, cheese, broccoli, olives, chives, sour cream etc. I believe that Disney is within walking distance, but this time of year and as early as we went each morning, we chose to drive (only a few minutes each way). We had bus passes, but my hubby prefers to have more control over his schedule, so that was a waste of money on my part! Oops! Overall, this hotel was exactly what we needed to relax after a long day at Disney. I would absolutely recommend it to my friends, and I can't wait until we can return!

Great breakfast. Comfortable suite that held 2 adults and 3 children. Convenient to Disney. Many restaurants and stores near by.

We stayed here this past week in December 2010. We stayed in the 2 room suite which included full sized fridge and living area and on each side separated were the bedrooms. Each bedroom had private bathroom. There were also 3 tv's which was nice, no fighting over what to watch and in the kids room was DVD player. THE BIGGEST PERK WAS THE ROOM MADE US FEEL LIKE NO ONE ELSE WAS AROUND, COULD NOT HEAR ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE ROOM, MUST BE REALLY SOUNDPROOF! We had reserved the room for 4 nights but only stayed 2 of them related to bad weather and pouring rain. The hotel did not penilize us for leaving early and credited the 2 nights back to us. That is customer service. The lobby was beautiful decorated for the holidays with fireplace. The breakfast area was large enough to accomate the many families there without feeling crowded or waiting for table like most hotels, there is also an area where the children can watch a movie and the big screen while eating. Disneyland is too far to walk with small children but the ART bus stops directly in front of the hotel and the store in lobby sells tickets. Buses come every 20 min so never had to wait long. We will be going back this summer and will stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at the Residence Inn Garden Grove. We will for sure stay here the next time we visit Disneyland. Breakfast was great, customer service was excellent (I think the front desk person that we dealt with the most was Gina, she was the best, thank you Gina), the light dinner was suprisingly good (they had a baked potato bar with all the fixings, soup and salad the night we arrived). We stayed in the children's two room suite and it was perfect for us. It is a little outdated however we found it to be homey and roomy.
This hotel is far from the park but we loved the ART shuttle. After a long day at the park the last thing we wanted to do was walk to the hotel, even if it was only a block away. It was so nice to just hop on the shuttle.
I would highly recommend this hotel and I can not wait to come back.

The reason we picked this hotel was because of the kitchenette suites, reasonable rates and proximity to good restaurants. The two bedroom suite worked great for us: two parents, two kids, two grandparents. The bedrooms are a fair size but the living room space is on the small side. We used the kitchenette for an easy eat-in breakfast every day. The free breakfast buffet downstairs was good but very busy. The lobby and laundry area were spotless and looked nice & modern. The rooms are starting to show some age and wear and although ours was fairly clean it could be freshened up with a deep cleaning and a new sofa. The pool area was closed for maintenance and we didn't get a chance to use it. The staff was great; friendly and always helpful. The Anaheim Resort Transit bus stops about every twenty minutes and made it easy to get to Disneyland. We walked to Disney with our young kids one morning but it took half an hour - too far for them. There are several good restaurants right outside the hotel. Target is less than a five minute walk away too. We had a very good stay. I would highly recommend for families.

I never right these reviews, but after my stay at RI Resort Area, I had to. From the time we checked in, the front desk was very polite and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and cozy. We stayed while on vacation visiting Disneyland, although it's not walking distance, there is a shuttle that comes every 20 min, outside the hotel. Hotel parking is FREE, and the most beneficial (and cost saving) plus to this hotel is the buffet breakfast every morning! They had a lot to choose from, cereal, oatmeal, fruits, yogurt, waffle stations, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bagels, toast, pancakes, etc.... On certain nights they serve dinner. This really helped keeping the whole in our wallet down to a minimum.

We stayed here for the first two nights in Anaheim, then stayed two nights in San Diego, and the last two nights back at Residence Inn- Main Gate (just to see the difference). Our stay at the RI Main Gate was so bad; we were really kicking ourselves in the butt for not going back to Resort Area. Main Gate is ALWAYS crowded during breakfast and they have a small eating area. It's just not the way you want to start off a long day. Resort Area had LOTS of room to eat along with a kiddie section that plays Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The rooms were much better kept at Resort Area then Main Gate and the service was just not the same.

I'm very pickey when it comes to staying in hotels, this hotel met my standards. This is a great hotel to stay in when traveling with children. We will stay here on our next visit to Disneyland!

We stayed here for a week while at Disneyland. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Maid service daily. We loved the kitchenette and used it for some evening meals. Our room was quiet as well.

Our girls LOVED the breakfast......it really was fantastic. And they were prepared with enough food for a completely full hotel.

The evening meet and greet meals were surprisingly good as well.

The shuttle service from Disneyland stopped right in front of our hotel. And stores such as Target were close by.

The staff were friendly and helpful with our questions.

The only negatives were that the hot tub wasn't working during our stay. And the bathrooms on the main floor were always being cleaned during breakfast and so we had to go back to our room to use the bathroom before going to catch the shuttle.
