“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2008

One word to describe the Homewood Suites,Anaheim. FANTASTIC
Our family of two adults and two children had a most enjoyable 8 nights at the Homewood Suites,Anaheim in January 2008.The whole place is delightful, the suits are spacious and immaculately clean, with all the facilities required for a comfortable stay.
The food at breakfast and at the evening snack, is plentiful and of as good a quality as can be found in the US.
The staff are all most friendly and helpful to the point of embarrassment, a couple of examples. After a marathon session at Disneyland,we did not leave our suite one day until after 2pm, long sleep followed by leisurely breakfast. When we returned we were surprised to find that the maid service had come in the afternoon to make up our room, not many hotels have maid service after 12 noon.
Our Coffey maker packed up one morning. A new one arrived within 5 minutes of our phone call.
I needed to check some emails one evening but the business center was busy, I was shown to a staff office to use one of their computers.
These are some nice touches the sets this place apart from others, along with the 24hr free Coffey at reception and the freshly made chocolate chip cookies if you happen to pass through the foyer at around 10pm.
The whole place seems to run like a Switz watch, with every body doing there job and in the quietest way possible, for which I sure Joe the manager must get some of the credit. For a hotel at its location close to Disneyland with lots of children staying the place is amazing quiet.
Disneyland was great and because of the hotel we were able to enjoy it all the more.
We returned each evening for a swim in the heated pool, a soak in the hot tub and a snack before going back for more punishment.
Its too long to walk to Disneyland but the shuttle seems very reliable.
Universal Studios was a big disappointment, same old tour as twenty years ago and not much else. Have an extra day in Disneyland instead!
But this is a hotel review. I would give the Homewood Suites,Anaheim---9.9999 out of 10 the lifts were a little bit slow.

We stayed for 10 nights over Christmas and New year, while we vacationed around southern California. As other guests have mentioned, the front desk staff are all very pleasant people and they are only too happy to assist guests. The daily buffet breakfast was good and offered enough variety to get everybody started for the day in our family. The evening meals weren't what I would call fantastic but they were hot and tasted fine. There was a variety of meals offered during our stay and we certainly saved a few dollars by eating at the hotel when it was convenient for us.
Our room was well appointed, mind you the sofa-bed mattress was a touch thin. Towels were changed daily even though we tried to save them (to re-use a second time). We never used the range-top but the microwave and toaster were put to good use. I give the hotel top marks for providing my family with a very comfortable location for our holiday - we will happily stay here again any time we get back to southern CA.

It is very family friendly hotel. I give the hotel 5 Stars , considering its very reasonable price, free hot breakfast, and convinient dinner (weekday). It has full kichen too.
I will difinately stay there again next time bring kids to Disneyland.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2008

Our family of 5 stayed here Dec. 22-30, 2007 for our Christmas Trip. Our room was on the second floor and we had a view of the pool. I was concerned about the noise from people above us and usually try to book rooms on the top floor, but we didn't have any problems with noise from above. The elevator was slow, but being on the 2nd floor, we just used the stairs. The front desk staff was very nice. We had arrived at SNA w/o any baggage because the airline lost it all, then we got to the rental car place and they gave away the car we had reserved since April. By the time we got to the hotel, we were pretty much ready for the next thing to go wrong. Fortunately, they were very understanding and made check in fast and easy. On top of that, when our bags were finally delivered at 2:00am, they didn't disturb us, but let us know in the morning. My only complaint was that housekeeping was really inconsistant. We had 5 people, but they never left enough towels. They left anywhere from 0 to 4 bath towels, and most of the time no hand towels or wash cloths. Most of the time, all but one, they delivered stuff right away when called. The one time they didn't, we never got them, we just made due with the 3 they originally left. We also found toys under the bed from the previous guest that they had missed. Breakfast was good. Most of the time we just took it back to our room to eat as we got ready for our day. We never got the chance to take advantage of the dinner, but it smelled good. All in all, it was a good experience and I would return.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2007

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in December, 2007. We chose this hotel because we wanted the amenities of a suite, like the separate bedroom and the kitchen.

The only thing we didn't like about the hotel was the elevators, which as other reviewers have noted, were slow. We generally took the stairs, but after a long day walking at Disneyland it is nice to ride in an elevator without having a long wait.

Other than the elevators, we liked pretty much everything else about the hotel.

The room was fantastic. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. The furnishings were updated and did not seem dated. The bedroom has an actual door that closes, which was fantastic the night I couldn't sleep and was able to watch TV in the other room without disturbing my sleeping spouse. The kitchen was small but functional, and came equipped with all necessary tools and dishes. The kitchen has no oven (micorwave and cooktop only) and the dishwasher might be too noisy to run if someone is sleeping on the sofa bed.

The hotel offers a FANTASTIC free breakfast. It has hot and cold items, waffles, and fountain soda. We grabbed some fruit and yogurt one morning and enjoyed them later in the park. The front desk area and lobby are clean and the staff was very friendly. There is a small 24 hour convenience store that sells wine, souveniers and snack items. There is a 24 hour business center with Internet access and printers.

The hotel location is too far to walk to Disneyland, but the hotel has a shuttle. I drove to the Mickey & Friends structure when I went to the park, so I have no review of the shuttle. There is an Outback Steakhouse and a Joe's Crab Shack in the parking lot of the hotel, and a Target across the street. There is also a Starbucks within easy walking distance of the front desk.

This hotel also has free parking. One of the weekend nights the lot around the hotel was pretty full, but there was ample parking in the back lot. I previously stayed at the Hyatt across the street and paid $12 a day to park my car, so the free parking was a huge plus.

I will stay at this hotel again. I enjoyed the breakfast and the overall value of being able to stock groceries and eat small meals without the high tourist prices. The facilites were clean and modern and the staff was friendly.

  • Liked — Suite with kitchen & separate bedroom; hot breakfast.
  • Disliked — Slow elevators.

It was new, parking was plenty, rooms were clean, check-in staff very professional. Free breakfast was great. However, in Nov the place was very crowded (week of Thanksgiving), so hotel had to cope with crowds at breakfast, insufficient linen and crowded laundry room.

We stayed here with our five kids and found it to be just what we needed. It is close to Disneyland and they do have a shuttle available for $3 pp that will take you all around the area all day long. The rooms were clean, our requests for extra towels and pillows were fulfilled quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful and the free breakfasts and weekday light dinners were a great money saver. The pool was also clean and had nice landscaping.

  • Liked — Value for money, cleanliness.
