“Great service in spite of holiday crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

I've stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times. We return here when ever we visit Disneyland. Our last stay was 12/27/12. The hotel and Disneyland were crowded due to the holidays but the employees at the Hyatt remained courteous and friendly. If you have no tolerance of children this Hyatt is not for you. I love kids, my daughter is now 15, but please parents, don't let your children run amok in the hotel, consider your child's safety and the comfort of other guests.

I'm a Diamond and this hotel treats their Diamonds well. We always get upgraded to a nice suite. This visit we were treated to a huge 2 BR/2BA suite and there was a bottle of sparkling cava waiting for us in the room. Very nice. I feel special!

They charge $18 daily fee for parking which seems excessive when the other surrounding hotels have free parking, but I don't think my complaining will change that. Plus, there's now a $4 charge per person for the shuttle, but the shuttle is so convenient, it's a much shorter walk than doing the Disneyland parking structure shuttle. The Hyatt atrium lobby is modern and bright. There are 2 pools, so if one is shaded try the other, they are both nice. I'd like to mention that I used to always get my espresso fix in the starbucks located in the lobby, but during this last visit I'll happily report that they now serve a decent cappucino in the TusCA restaurant too. Thank you Garden Grove Hyatt, we had another fabulous stay and we'll be back!

We had suite 551 overlooking the lobby. There was a weird echo noise coming from the lobby at all times because they played music and if someone screamed, it echoed throughout. It was not really loud but like you hear outside an indoor swimming pool. This could be heard at all hours especially in the morning with children screaming in the lobby. Also, we could hear kids screaming at 5:00 am in the next room. This is also one of those hotels that has doors that SLAM everytime someone goes in and out. Doors SLAM all night long.

Other than the noise, it was quite a clean hotel. The beds were comfortable with nice fresh linens. The towels were old and worn and turned grey when wet - disgusting.

It was overall a decent place but I would not stay there again.

The Hyatt Regency Orange County exists–along with the myriad other properties such as Marriott, Residence Inn, Sheraton, etc–primarily to serve the throngs of tourists flocking to the nearby hallowed Disneyland. Indeed, Disney runs a tour desk in the lobby and a regular shuttle runs between the hotel and America’s favorite playground.

Perhaps it’s because of this reason that the Hyatt Regency Orange County has the most capacious atrium lobby of any Hyatt I’ve encountered and the smallest rooms.

The room I was assigned was basic. A king-sized bed when you enter, a flat-screen TV to the side and a workdesk awkwardly placed directly in front of the TV, a side closet, and a bathroom across. The designers of the hotel probably expect guests to be out all day making the most of the Southern California sunshine and visiting the numerous places of interests.

Facilities include a decent sized pool (expect it to be filled with kids) and an adjoining gym with the standard StayFit equipment.

This is a very nice Hyatt located near Disneyland, but I would not say it is within walking distance. Check-in was very quick. They offer valet parking and self park which you pay for. There is a $4 per person/per day shuttle bus that runs over to Disneyland every 1/2 hour. It only runs for this hotel, so there are no extra stops. Very nice!

We stayed in kids suite room which had one king bedroom area and a seperate bunk bed room for the kids. These bedroom areas are seperated with a door and the bathroom. The bunk bed sleeps 2 on the bottom and one on the top. The kid room had all the views, one window overlooked the atrium and the other overlooked the city view. Kids room got cold at night while the adult room stayed at a pretty good temperature with the thermostat. There were no blankets in the room, but I did leave a note for the maid and there were a couple left for us when we came back later that day. The maid also left us some extra towels and shampoo since we had the kids with us.

The Starbucks downstairs was very nice. The service was quick and very friendly staff. Did not utilize any of the restaurants or the deli so I can't comment on those. Overall, was a nice stay. Easy transportation provided to the parks. Staff was all friendly. Would stay here again.

Very happy to be at this hotel. Rooms are nice. the ballrooms are clean. The lobby is welcoming. We are here for the Rose Bowl and Disney. They have a Shuttle that goes twice an hour to Disney. Very big busses. They pick up on the 15 and 45 min. Disney is only about 2 miles away if that. Very close. The staff here is very nice. We have ran into a few of them and they have been all smiles. So nice to see that in a place. The hotel is kid friendly. I think you will be happy here. Give them a shot. Very accommodating

Room Tip: We have a great view of the city. In room 1129.

We arrived at around 7pm. Check in was a 10 minute wait. We were asked if we would like a smoking on non smoking room. We asked for smoking and the told 'oh sorry we have no smoking rooms available'. It was fine it why offer in the first place? Then we were advised our booking was for a king room only to be told there was no king rooms available and they were going to put us in a queen double. We're plied with well if we are having a queen double (which we didn't want) can we please have askew of Disneyland. The attended said that should be fine. Then 5 minutes later " oh sorry we don't have a queen double with a Disney view" in the end we took a non smoking queen double with a city view... Needless to say we were not happy. When we got to our room it was very lean and clearly well decorated. We looked for the mini bar every there to find there was none. When we asked about this on our trip outfor dinner the attendee said no some of our rooms do not have a mini bar but one can be provided.... We said great!!!! Then the attended asked for our room number so that it can be billed to our room. They wanted to charge $25 fora fridge for a 2 night stay. What a joke. We said no and went for dinner across the road very unhappy:)
The buffet breakfast for $20 is not worth it either. As a vegetarian my only options were fruit, bread and eggs. Very disappointed !!
The beds were comfy and had a big modern tv but that's about all the was good about this place.

We were going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel but opted to return to the Hyatt. We were so happy with our vacation a year ago staying here. Every staff member goes out of their way to take care of you. My family had no problems during our 10 day stay from Canada. Housekeeping made sure we had lots of pillows & blankets for our 6 year old. We rented the 2 room suites with 2 bathrooms & king beds. Excellent choice for a family of 4. After a day at Disney it is nice to have quiet time in our own room. There's lots to do in Southern California & great restaurants near by. The Cheesecake Factory has the best kid's menu & desserts.
Thanks to all the staff at the Hyatt. We will return for our annual Xmas vacation in 2013.

Room Tip: the 2 bedroom suites comes with 3 tvs & 2 bathroom with a living room with pull out sofa. A gre...
