My friend and I were looking to get some tea around 9:30 p.m. Problem was, places like Tranquil and other coffee shops would be closing soon. After googling tea places in fullerton, Veronese Gallery Cafe popped up. They were open until midnight. Perfect.
Google Maps was no help as it indicated it was near Cal State Fullerton. Is it possible I put in the wrong info or misread it? Sure. Regardless, as we were going down Commonwealth toward the Downtown area, my friend happened to spot in on the left hand side. Since there is no street parking you have to go down an alley where they have some parking available.
Upon arrival, we fell in love. It has a sprawling garden like setting different alcoves and private areas where you can relax, be with a date, or do homework (as some people were). They had laptops so I am also assuming there is wifi.
Going inside is even better. It is an artists cafe so it gives it a funky, artistic atmosphere without being overwhelming or cluttered looking. There were tables on the inside as well as an area looking out the main street of commonwealth.
The Jujube tea I ordered was AMAZING. I am skeptical about tea with flavoring because I like very simple, grassy teas. This order was worth it. $4.99 for a nice size cup that had Chinese dates in it. Gave it a naturally sweet flavor without being too sweet. My friend ordered a lemony tea and while it was good, it was indeed...lemony. So if your not a huge lemon fan this won't be for you but again, it was still good.
We also ordered food and the panini came with a salad and potato side. All of it was great. The bill came out to 24.95 but it was worth it. We were not disturbed and were able to talk for a few hours. Not to mention the ambiance was perfect. All in all, come to this place. While it has been around for awhile, it doesn't seem to be overcrowded and more of a local hangout.
