“Better than I thought it would be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

Stayed for a night the beginning of the month while on a tour. The tour group picked hotels and I was a little nervous after reading reviews. They are in the process of switching names/ownership but it really didn't have that much of effect. Since I was on a tour I didn't have a car so the area didn't have much to offer since I stayed on a Sunday. There is a "mall" a block or so away with shops and restaurants but they close early on Sunday. The hotel is located in a business area with mostly offices so there is not much happening on the day I was there. Dining i s limited to eating in the hotel which got good reviews from people I was with or the casino next door which also got good reviews. The area wasn't as bad as I though it would be. I walked 3 blocks down to a CVS and had no issues at all. In fact there were very few people on the streets. Rooms were nice comfortable beds and clean.

I will start with the bright points: Comfortable bed, although the bed spread was thin. The air conditioning worked great, especially in light of hot summer temperatures. The room was nice and clean. Friendly and courteous staff. They provide transportation to and from the airport. The average: Was awakened by railroad train whistles passing nearby the hotel in the morning, followed by the dumping of industrial sized dumpsters and occasional beeping of vehicles backing up. The shower curtain rod was not securely fastened and drooped in the middle, making it difficult to bring the shower curtain to either end of the enclosure. The bad: The water knob in the shower turned 360 degrees without a cutoff stop. Had a difficult time finding the right temperature. The neighborhood where the hotel is located has many homeless laying on benches both across the street and in the alleyway next to the hotel. There is an outdoor mall beside the hotel which appears very run down. I felt like I had to keep watch over my shoulder while walking near the hotel during daylight hours and cannot imagine going out after dark. This is not a good area to bring your family or if female traveling alone.

Room Tip: There may be less street noise if staying in rooms that are even numbered.

We had lunch yesterday, July 22nd, at the Zest Restaurant inside the (hoilday Inn - previously) now Fresno Inn & soon to be the Raddison on August 1st.This was our 1st time there. We had wonderful service from Amy B and our Chef came out to greet us as well. Our food was delicious and we enjoyed the whole dining experience. Thanks again for a great time.

Room Tip: We didn't stay at Hotel, just had lunch and went over files before appearing in court.

My family and I stayed for 1 night to attend a wedding in the area. As "dottopilot" mentioned, they are under renovation and as a result most of all the art work has been removed and the lobby bar/restaurant is closed. Don't expect a bell hop or anyone to welcome you -- in fact, you might even drive by the entrance to the hotel as it appears from the street to be a garage entrance and nothing more. The gal who checked us in refused to help us get a cab to the church and literally handed me a business card for a cab company. The rooms were clean but had no bedspreads, art work, or a hotel directory...good thing there wasn't an emergency! The lighting in the rooms was awful. Zero amenities in the rooms and the A/C is very slow but after about 30 minutes the room was comfortable.

This hotel seems to be located in a sketchy area as there were security guards all over the place..we appreciated the free underground parking. The pool was satisfactory but not great.

Hopefully when the Radisson takes ownership all these issues will improve including the decor and customer service.

Room Tip: Room 524 is near the elevator, so you'll hear the ding all night long and the light to the A/C s...

Dear Tropigl

Thanks for your feedback. We apologize for the poor customer service rendered by our staff. Your comments are shared with the Guest Services Team for training and improvement.

We are converting to a Radisson hotel and as a result artwork, directories and amenities are being replaced with the new ones. The transition will be complete in coming weeks. We hope you will stay with us at your next visit to the city and give us an opportunity to serve you again.

Hotel was Holiday Inn, now it is the Fresno Inn, will be the Raddison. Rooms are good with the exception of all Pictures removed from the wall. The A/C appears INOP on second floor so fitness room is hot on these 100 + days. Pool looks nice. Zest restaurant is nice. Good portions, nice decor and very reasonably priced. Hotel not in the best part of town. Appears to be a lot of homeless outside of hotel.
Hotel staff is very nice.

I was quite impressed with the culinary expertise of Chef Joshua in the hotel's "Zest Restaurant". He made it a point to come out and chat with guests. Food was over the top. Well above where it normally is at a hotel. This chef is going places. He actually creates dishes that are creative and "outside of the box". Some sound pretty adventurous, but try them. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Waitress was fast, efficient and friendly. Knowledgeable about the menu. Small area, quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!

This property is now called Fresno Inn. It was the Holiday Inn Downtown Convention. It is a mid rise property with a large lobby. There is a small shop in the lobby, bar and restaurant. The hall ways are a little dark, but the rooms are large with large windows the size of sliders (I think they once opened). The bathroom is large with plenty of counter space and they still have those nice big shower heads and plenty of pressure. The internet was free and fast. Furnishings in the room were in good condition and tasteful.

The location is downtown. There is so little to do. There is one Mexican restaurant around the corner. I didn't see any convenience stores. Granted probably you have a car, and there is underground parking, so it isn't that difficult to find someplace. But, you're gonna need a car. The on property restaurant

Room Tip: I liked overlooking the park instead of the roof of buildings
