“One of My Favorite Thai Restaurants on the Peninsula”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

This review is for lunchtime: Why spend $8 for an ordinary sandwich when you can have the exotic flavors of Thai?

After looking for good Thai in this area, I found this delicious bowlful of heaven that is Thai food. And this place is pretty good so far. I've been there twice now and the portions are large and very good. So many times when portions are large, they tend to be just mediocre in taste. But not here, thank you!

The Penang Beef and the Pad See Ew Pork were each very good and I could not even finish the sweet-spicy Pad See Ew (with the perfectly done chow fun noodles and generous slices of pork, for only $8, this dish might be my favorite so far, but I have so many other choices, that it's too early to call).

Earlier (before Noon) is definitely easier to find a table, but the service is friendly and relatively quick.

I've noted twice now that this place is both crowded for lunch at noon and the hard-edged in decor can make this place QUITE LOUD.

And so if you value your hearing, or desire a quieter lunch to actually talk (rather than YELL) to people, you might try sitting outside at their 4 tables on a nice day.

But, most of all, if you value flavor, service and portion, Sweet Basil Thai is my new favorite place for Thai in this area.

“A gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

Who would think...such amazing Thai food in a little corner of Foster City! It's in a little nondescript shopping corner on Beach Park, but you walk in and it's wonderful. And the food...! You would think you're in SF.

“Best kept secret!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

The flavors are exotic and rich. The presentation is spectacular. The prices are very reasonable. The portions are very generous. This restaurant is not to be missed on the Peninsula if you like Thai food. The chef often comes out to greet customers.
