“Clean, good value, good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012 via mobile

We were happy to find a clean room and hotel. They also have a nice swimming pool and gym.
This hotel is placed in a quiet zone, in Fort Bragg. With the car, it takes five minutes to reach the centre of the town or some stunning beaches or parks on the coast.
I had a wifii issue during my stay, but they were able to fix it promptly.
When i asked for some hints, they pointed me to the best places.

My room was big enought, beds were comfortable, bathroom is wide. Furnitures are new. Breakfast was ok, but they are missing an espresso machine to be perfect:-)

You get pretty much what you expect from a medium priced hotel.

Good: recently renovated.
Clean and spacious room for family.
Staff that is accommodating.
Breakfast on site took care of basic needs.
Bad: bad smell in elevator.
Dripping sound from AC in our first room made it impossible for us to sleep. We had to get our room changed.

Room Tip: Stay away from highway side. Go for the third floor.

We have stayed at several hotels in the area and never quite been satisfied until now. This one seems to be a good combination of price (hotel points in my case), location, rooms.
My room looked out on a verdant gulch towards the ocean. Not quite ocean view but good enough for their rates. Room was quiet and could not hear road noise.

Ft. Bragg is the only sign of true civilization for a hundred miles in each direction on the coast highway, and the HI Express is the only branded hotel we found here. The rest are local facilities that may or may not have their own merits. Ft. Bragg is a growing tourist destination, and the hotel franchise owners likely took a chance building here. We're glad they did. If you are expecting a full service hotel with complete interior corridors, etc., as several HI Expresses are, this is perhaps a notch back. The hotel's design and adjacent topography limit such. Yet, our room was large, very clean, comfortable and quiet (even with an exterior corridor). The staff was very friendly. The breakfasts were common fare for hotels of this class. In short, it was a good value for the price. We had a view room, and our view was somewhat restricted. However, there's plenty to do in Ft. Bragg and Mendocino, and we didn't go there to spend hours on end in a hotel room. Besides, there was a really nice sitting area nearby if we wanted an outdoor experience at the hotel. and this hotel is perfectly located with a brand name to trust.

Room Tip: Definitely book a view room.

We had stayed here before and remembered we liked the hotel - peaceful location just outside of town. Got a good deal on Priceline this time, and this was the hotel I was wishing for so everything worked out fine. We ended up with a very nice room on the first floor, with a large balcony overlooking the treed canyon, along with a small ocean view. We enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony. The room also had a gas fireplace, quiet refrigerator, small microwave, coffee-maker. There was a good-sized flat screen TV over the fireplace. The room was very clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. There is a large indoor pool and jacuzzi. The pool was the right temperature for swimming, and the jacuzzi was the right temperature for a jacuzzi. It also had powerful jets, which I like. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is a complimentary breakfast. The complimentary breakfast was the usual, and it was fine. My only quibble is that we would have preferred make-your-own waffles instead of the pancake machine. The machine was not noticed by many of the breakfast patrons, plus it only made pancakes for one person at a time, and it would often run out of mix. We would recommend this hotel, and this is where we will always stay when in the Fort Bragg area. Maybe it's a tad high-priced for a Holiday Inn Express, but the hotel is very nice so I think it is worth it.

Nice location, the view was of a forest....very pretty. It's a newer hotel, clean comfortable had all the basics....fridge microwave, wi-fi. HI Express does a really nice job on their complimentary breakfast. No complaints for a nice clean hotel. Would stay again.
