“Worth the walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

Take a bag for your treasures. The glass is to the south of the walkway. Wear good shoes to traverse down a cliff side. A great beach to the north. Great for walking even when the weather is not cooperating.

we went to the wrong part the first day, then a local took us to the real place, just yards from where we were the first day. wow, what a find.

“Worth the walk!”

One of the highlights of the trip. A cute and scenic beach (yeah there will be other beachcombers & 'tourists' there, but its quite spectacular & great place to take photos.

“No Glass on Glass Beach”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2011

The locals warned us that there wasn't any glass left but we went anyway. It is an interesting story of reclaiming an old landfill but the glass has all been removed. Some folks were walking around with rakes trying to uncover old glass but I did see anyone keeping anything they picked up.

“GO...but don't expect too see much glass.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2011

A little tricky to find...when you see the Denny's, turn West and park at the end of the street. If you end up in a cookie cutter housing farm, you've gone too far.

The walk to the beach is a few hundred yards from the parking area; not a hike by any means. There are no "signs" that you have arrived at Glass Beach, but if you see the slight shimmer in the sand...you've probably found it. There wasn't much evidence of glass left, except at a few moments when the sun was hitting the sand just right. I walked around for quite a while, trying to gather some pieces for a picture. It made for a good picture.

The best part about this beach is not the glass!! Walk along the rocks and you'll be pleasantly surprised to see harbor seals sitting and sunning themselves. It was a beyond a treat to be able to see them (from a respectful distance) in their natural habitat, doing what they do. We saw four total. It was magical!

The name, perhaps at one time, may have been fitting...but no longer. But do take an hour, to walk around and hopefully you will be as lucky as we were!
