“Beautiful location, wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

I went here in October, not wanting to stay at the hotel offered by my conference. It was absolutely perfect. The rooms were peaceful, and I was able to work from the room. It was an excellent getaway and really close to some amazing wineries. I ended up staying through the weekend, and the staff were able to accommodate the extra day. The owners also gave some great recommendations for places to eat and be merry. Can't wait to come back.

I am not sure why this place is rated so well on Tripadvisor. We arrived late at night and found the room (Dog Cottage) to be hugely disappointing. The most disturbing thing was when we went to get into bed, it appeared that the sheets had not been cleaned -- or at least not cleaned very well. There were many hairs in the sheets from either the last guests or an unclean washer/dryer. The "cottage" was also extremely small. I was happy we were only there for 1 night and did not plan to do any real cooking as it is far too small. The next day, my husband worked remotely from our room and was able to observe the occupants of the neighboring "cottage" -- they were interesting to say the least. At one point he observed them smoking something (??) out of a tin can. They then left on foot/bike with bags of trash/cans/recycling. Not the kind of people you want to imagine having stayed in your room previously!! I will never go back.

We truly are sorry for your negative experience and are grateful for the comments so that we can do everything we can to improve the experience for future guests.

In terms of the linens, we always change all linens every day - unless otherwise requested by the guest via the tent cards in the room. Cleanliness also is our # 1 priority. If something was found on the sheets, I can only think that it must have been lint or something else from the dryer. If this is not the case, we truly apologize and will be taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again. Most guests actually go out of their way to let us know they appreciate how thorough our housekeepers are.

In terms of the guests staying next door, how other guests look/appear is an area where we cannot discriminate and which we have no control over. If any guest was performing illicit behavior, we would of course have to ask them to leave. We would always hope that if illicit behavior is observed, that management be notified so that immediate action can be taken so other guests are not bothered.

Stayed one night in December. What a sweet little spot! Oodles of charm. Remember those little motel courts from the 40's-60's? These cottages have all been totally updated and spruced up with everything you could need or want.

The gal at front desk was very nice and recommended good place for dinner. (The plate of homemade cookies sitting out didn't hurt either.) Felt so homey. Cottage was very, very clean and I am picky about that. Lovely little deck off the back of cottage and there was also a community patio area with BBQ, etc. Nice touch. Flat screen TV, mini-kitchen, nice, modern bathroom, comfy bed. A futon type sofa that folds out to another bed. And room was very quiet.

We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend to anyone passing through.

Shoreline Cottages is a reasonably priced, cozy, clean, warm friendly place to spend a few days at the North Coast. We have stayed here several times in the past and we choose the little mini cottages with a kitchen. As a dog-friendly motel, they even give the dogs the royal treatment with a bed, some treats, and a towel just for the dogs. It is convenient to the Botanical Gardens and a short drive from everything from Mendocino to Westport. Not to mention a quarter mile from the Harvest Market - one of the best grocery stores anywhere! And we will stay here again next time we are in Fort Bragg.

Room Tip: If you like to prepare your own meals, get one of the mini cottages. Otherwise the rooms are all gr...

We wanted to spend a few days in Fort Bragg to get away from home and to kayak in the two local rivers: the Noyo and Big River. We had stayed at Shoreline Cottages before but it had been many years. We like them because they have individual cottages and full kitchens. We were not disappointed. Cabin #7 ws perfect four us with everything we needed in the kitchen, quiet, a comfortable bed, and cozy heat and good ventilation. The staff was very friendly, as were the other guests. Plus, it is located between the two rivers and not far from either one. We had two great days and would recommend this facility to anyone.

Room Tip: We were in Room #7, the furthest of the cabins from the road. It was quiet, plus near the hot tub an...

My boyfriend and I took a trip up to Mendocino for a weekend. We stayed two nights here and it was very nice and spacious. We had a lovely patio with tables and a small living room. The service was great and room was very clean. The only downside (which could be big for some folks) was the bed-- it was very soft and a little bit lumpy. I can sleep almost anywhere so it was fine for me but my boyfriend had problems getting a good night's rest.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in one of the suites.Jasper and Sasha(our dogs) felt right at home and enjoyed the V.I.P. treatment. Doggie beds ,treats and their own towels. Plenty of room for all of us in our cozy suite and loved our private deck.Treats for humans as well and great fridge, micro etc.We had an issue with a scary electric short in the bathroom light fixture and a very nice handyman was there in 20 minutes to fix the problem. The manager on site was very nice and the property is well kept .Very clean rooms and the bed was comfortable.A great stay for pups and people.

Room Tip: The suites are great if you have dogs and/or kids. The deck gives you even more space. I have fairly...
