Don't even know where to begin, we felt that after braving the really rough road (must have 4x4) to get here, this place would be worth it. But no, this place was FILTHY. Dog hair, dirt and dust, dirty dishes on the dining table, the counter tops and overfilling the sink, all the patio chairs and tables needed wiping down prior to use. The dishwasher was also full so we put in some suds and gave it a whirl so we could have clean dishes later. There was no preparation made for our visit, it felt like we might have pulled a surprise visit on a 25 year old son and his bachelor pad.
We had talked to Andrea several months ago and got the scoop on what would be included, once we arrived at the "Lodge", it was obvious that Andrea or any other woman for that matter was not in the picture. There were six or seven dogs and a house that had not been cleaned in months! There was no one to greet us aside from a very nice guest who told us host Jerry wasn't there and pointed us to our room which was not upstairs and large with a private bath as we were told. We got a very small downstairs room with no private bath, we had to walk across and down a hall in full view of anyone sitting in the great room. We had to clean out the filthy refrigerator shelf where our food would be stored. House had no air conditioning, only substandard fans that didn't help at all. Two of the large white dogs were very aggressively barking at our horses when we put them in the pen and at other moments as well. We had to hunt down some buckets for water and once cleaning them out, had to then find a hose to fill them for our horses. There was about 8 inches of manure in the barn paddocks, no maintenance was spent on the interior or exterior of this place in quite some time. Had to attempt to close a gate that accessed that manure stricken area and in the process ripped a good scratch in my abdomen. Trails nearby are either roads or motorcycle trails, we were told when we called the Western States Trail was nearby, it was at least 2-3 hours of very hard riding to even arrive at one link to it. All the dogs were either fighting or barking or slobbering, begging or following us at any given moment, woke up with flea bits on my ankle. We had initially told Jerry we might stay for two days, but that was out of the question, we had to get out of there. The next morning, we pulled the truck out only to find our right front tire was flat because it had a nail in it!!!!! Host Jerry said he had magnetized the road, a man who can not keep his "Lodge" clean and keep toilet paper in the bathrooms is going to magnetize the road?????? Ha! We were thinking of taking a romantic hot tub before we arrived there, but thought better of it once we saw how everything else was so neglected, not to mention it was straight across from Host Jerry's bedroom patio door, no privacy. Anyway, I don't have the time to go into any further horrifying detail, suffice to say that this place was not fit for anyone but dogs, not recommended to anyone, horses or not. Not good people!!!
