Living in the area, we've eaten routinely here since it opened. I'm sad to say that this time, I noticed a clear deterioration in the service and a bit of a decline in the quality of the food.
Sutter Street is a challenge. On many nights activities and events draw a boisterous and eclectic crowd. It seems a byproduct of this situation is that the hostesses have become more gatekeepers than greeters. We were granted a table only after providing proof that we had the full complement of our reservation present. This is not a great way to start off a special night with friends.
Our waiter was polite but casual in a way inconsistent with fine dining. I felt like I was at Chlii's and this is no praise for that casual dining establishment.
My ribeye wasn't bad but it didn't seem to be the same quality I'd seen on previous visits. Veggies and mushrooms were tasty but quite frankly, there is no differentiation here to say, Outback.
So, next time, if we want a good steak, we'll drive further to a proper fine dining streakhouse or simply go to Outback and save the extra cost.
