“Beautiful place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

We had dinner at the Narrow Gauge our first night in Yosemite. We loved the classic Yosemite styling of the place, with its beautiful sugar pine bar serving good cold beers. Food was good though we felt the menu was a little too global and could have done with more local touches. Service was good. Only other comment is the music (classical) though perfectly fine did jar a little with the surrounds. Again something of a more local nature would have been better suited to such a dramatic decor (buffalo and deer heads on the walls etc).

“Competitvely Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

This was a disappointing experience. Their entrees were OK but lacked the value you would expect for their image in the community. They are seen as the best and their food is just OK. The prices are those of a first class restaurant but food quality is at best average.

Their best attribute is that they have little competition and are able to charge accordingly. Expect to pay for first class and get coach quality.

They charge premium prices and provide minimal variety and average at best service and quality.

One bright light will be the new staff they are bringing in seem to be very good and add real value.

Great decor for the setting and excellent tasting food. Would recommend if you're staying at the inn or close by.

Great buffet breakfast with made to order tasty large waffles and great service and kind staff. The restaurant faces mountain forest and has been decorated as if you are in a mountain lodge.
