“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2009

The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of choices. The staff was nice and helpful. There is a little fitness center which is open from early in the morning so we could use it before breakfast. It's a good location to access the sequoia national park.

We stayed here for our visit to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks which were 25 miles away.

We had a good sized room, which was nice and clean.

Continental breakfast is included in the room rate and we had lovely freshly cooked waffles with fruit that we had bought from the local fruit farms.

We highly recommend Orange Blossom Junction for lunch or dinner which is located on the route back from the National Park.

As a frequent business traveler with high expectation on hotels, I was a little nervous about a small town Best Western as I've had mixed experiences with them in the past. This one was a very pleasant surprise. Nice, clean rooms and lobby. Very courteous staff. Breakfast was typical continental style, not exceptional, but not bad either. Bottom line is that it was clean, comfortable and secure, and way above average for a small town hotel.

This hotel was on our agenda because we had simply picked Exeter on the map. It turned out to be a fantastic choice. The town of Exeter was lovely, small and very friendly. The local restaurant 'Yukon Jack' is an absolute must. The hotel receptionist was by far and away the most helpful I have encountered since we began our trip - only too happy to help with our string of requests at any time of day or night.

The rooms were clean, spacious and well equipped and the pool was lovely. This hotel was exceptionally good value, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Booked through hotel website and paid total of $83.03 (funny how the room tax is only 3% for this city?!) with AAA discount. Here are the pros and cons:

PROS:
-- comfy bed and very clean, roomy room
-- about $30 cheaper than neighboring motels in Visalia which is 10 miles away and same distance to Sequoia Nat'l Park from both Cities
-- Lovely old town Exeter on Pine Street with needed services

CONS:
-- frayed and thread-bared sheets and pillow cases
-- fertilizer smell 24/7...but that's part of life in central CA...can't really hide from it
-- ok breakfast

The receptionist on the arrival was the most unhelpful of the whole trip, it looed as if we dragged him away from his favourite programme. The other receptionist, a girl was back up to standard. The motel was good and clean, very much so. We didnt try breakfast here but there is an eating establishment not far away along the road which was very good value with Thai, American food and our breakfast there kept us going all day.
Pity about the guy who booked us in.

First night they gave us a smoking room-they said the place was full. It was pretty bad-but we got moved the next night and the room was great. Had a nice breakfast and off to the parks. Nice family that runs this. Would recommend! Nice and out of the way of Fresno, etc
