I stayed at this Inn a week every year for 14 years until I retired. The owner is a bit gruff older guy who I always would negotiate a reduced rate for a weeks stay . This sometimes took 10 minutes or so but we always came to an agreement. I normally stayed in Rom 17 as it is very airy with huge windows & a corner room overlooking the street. It has a large good working TV. It can be a bit funky & the Continental breakfast can be a bit slim but the sense of history in this lovely old structure combined with it's location in Old Town makes it a special place

“Our Wedding at the Eagle House was incredible!”

The Eagle House Victorian Inn, located in Eureka, California, was the perfect place for our wedding. We rented the entire property for the weekend, including the ballroom and the 23 beautiful and unique rooms. The staff was helpful, catered to our every need, and made our wedding experience very special. We couldn't believe that we found a place where we could hold all of the weekend's activities, and where all of our extended family could stay. We were told by our guests that our wedding was the best wedding they ever attended, and we owe much of that to the Eagle House Victorian Inn. We highly recommend this incredible hotel for events large or small (we had 135 wedding guests), or even if you are looking for a single room for the weekend. The rooms are out of this world. Each one is unique and will make any guest feel like they are staying in a palace. The management has taken the time to set up each room with world class furniture and a tasteful décor, which makes this place extraordinary. We congratulate the staff on maintaining the antiquity of the inn. We can't wait for our next visit to the Eagle House!

“Wonderful wedding event and hotel stay”

Eagle House Victorian Inn

My son reserved all the rooms in the Eagle House Inn and their wonderful ballroom for a wedding weekend that was fantastic. The rooms are all beautiful, different, and everyone was pleased with how their room was perfect for them. Yes, it does take a little time to register, but this is not a corporate, automated experience. The personal attention was important to our event. We felt that the Eagle House was very supportive of our needs and wishes. About 135 guests attended the wedding and reception. The ballroom is lovely, so very little is needed for decorations. The wedding and reception looked elegant yet felt very warm and comfortable. The in-house Gallagher's Pub was used for catering the reception as well as a pre-wedding family reunion and the food and service were perfect. This location in Old Town Eureka is great for walking or jogging along the waterfront and shopping and eating in the numerous restaurants and wonderful shops. The common areas on each floor of the Eagle House Inn are wonderful gathering places for family and friends. We felt like we were in a big lovely home. The beds are very, very comfortable.

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay”

My wife and I arrived on a Saturday afternoon in Eureka with no reservations and no plan to stay. As my wife walked the shops, we decided to overnight. A local shop employee recommended the Eagle House. We rented a room with a fireplace on a rainy/windy night and after visiting the Art of Wine Gallery and Tasting Room where we rubbed elbows with local artists and university professors, we had a very pleasent dinner at a local Italian bistro and then returned to our room to a roaring fire and some wonderful music. The room was right out of the victorian era, very clean, and warm during the wind and rain storm.

The staff was extraordinarily helpful in providing information concerning places of local interest and recommending places to shop and eat. Also, when we needed recommendations on routes out of town, the staff was very helpful, even after we had checked out.

This hotel is one that you come to for the ambience, not for a Day's Inn type with an exercise room, pool and spa. The inn is a block from the ocean and central to the old town redevelopment which consists of art galleries, clothing stores and antique shops. My wife's favorite was a shop which imported and sold hand made Tibetin carpets.

Only two downsides. Because the inn is located in the redevelopment area, plan on seeing some people who are simply down and out. Second, there is no refrigerator in the room. Notwithstanding the location, because of the number of people walking about because of the active night life, and the constant police patrols, we both felt very safe walking at night.

All in all, a great place to stay while taking a step back in time for a few nights. The room was functional and the inn while being filled with genuine antique furniture, was an elegant experience.

We used to stay here regularly, but will never stay here again. We booked a reservation by phone, and got a rude phone call several weeks asking us to stay somewhere else because they wanted to charge more for the room than they had quoted us. We managed to get another room (at almost double what we were quoted), but found the manager insulting and unresponsive. The lobby doors were locked during the day, there was apparently no daily housekeeping service. And the hotel is very, very noisy, both inside (can hear neighbors using the bathroom), and out (loud bars, homeless people breaking bottles).
