“No wifi?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

Large clean room.
But...wifi didn't ever work (4 devices, multiple tries). Staff didn't have clue or make any visible effort to resolve beyond, " We've been having trouble". Flat screen TV didn't have hi def mode. No microwave. Sketchy neighborhood - almost run down by police cars (8?) making major bust next door. Lots of road noise from nearby 101 hi way. Much better options/values in the area.

Hello AFVcliff,

I'm sorry your stay wasn't as enjoyable as it should have been. In response to the wireless internet troubles we have since upgraded our bandwidth and changed our internet service provider. This change seems to have helped considerably.

Thank you for your feedback,
The staff at the Bayview Motel

Really pleased at our find! This motel had very helpful and friendly staff and was fresh and clean throughout. We just popped over to Eureka for one night to see the Redwoods and needed 2 rooms. The family suite with 3 double beds was ideal. We couldn't see the bay view because of the mist....but I'm sure it was there! Will definitely stay there again if we go back to Eureka in the future.

Dear Janice,

Thank you for your feedback. I'm really happy you found the family suite to your liking. Hopefully Humboldt Bay won't be quite so foggy again if you do come back to the redwoods.

Happy travels,

We loved this hotel. Lovely building appears quaint and nostalgic on the outside but is pure modern comfort on the inside. Everything a traveler needs and wants in a room. The room was very spacious, with sitting area and "kitchen-bar" area as well. The owners were so kind and pleasant to deal with! I must have changed our reservation plans at least three times and each time they were patient and helpful. We needed a place in Eureka to stay in regularly to visit family and this will definitely be our choice from here on out!

Room Tip: The view of the bay is lovely from all rooms!

If price is no object, this is, without a doubt, the place to stay in Eureka... and it is not that expensive... prices start at under $100 a night... at least the last time I checked. You don't get breakfast, but very few motels/hotels (if any) serve a breakfast that is so good that that would be the reason that I stayed at that place. Instead, you can go to a place of your own choosing that might cost $8 to $15 (tops) each... but that still will not break your bank account.

The Bayview has rooms that are clean, spacious and comfortable.

The Bayview typically has the "No Vacancy" sign lit up, because they have a reputation as a good place to stay and travelers know that. Make reservations to make sure you get a room.

Room Tip: Please do make reservations. Ask for a top floor with a bay view. It's not a great view but a...

There were three of us so we chose the "family suite"--two bedrooms, 2 baths. The suite is totally handicap accessible. Although we didn't need those accommodations, we were impressed that all types of disability were considered. The owners are very, very nice and helpful--not that we really needed help. I have never in recent memory stayed in a motel that was so clean--everything was spotless. It has been taken care of with TLC. I would highly recommend this to anyone, but particularly the suite for those with special needs.

Room Tip: The price for the family suite was very economical--worth it

We stayedin the 2 bedrooms/2 bath unit to visit the redwood national and state park. The glass shower was spotless, very impressive. No fancy but clean and well-kept. The regular hotel room was spacious, with 2 queen beds, a table, 2 chairs and a loveseat and coffee table. We chose to have an additional bedroom, which is connected to the hotel room and has a queen bed, dresser, 1 night stand and a bath with a shower. The bayview was a little industrial but there's nothing the motel could do about that. The owner lives on site and seems very hands on.

Room Tip: The additional bedroom and bath was not too expensive.

We spent one night here in September, and loved the family run motel. The room was quite spacious with a wet bar. We loved the big shower. Internet worked well. We lucked out and were able to check in early because the room was ready.
Eureka suffers mightily from the interstate running right through town. This motel is up on a bluff. If you don't wear earplugs, you might hear the 18 wheelers below squealing a bit.
We recommend a ride on the Madaket in Humboldt Bay for some history, and Samoa Dunes is also interesting. Walking around Old Town was also interesting.

Room Tip: Top floor is best but there is no elevator.
