Description: To just call Brick & Fire Bistro an Italian restaurant wouldn't quite describe it. The space is focused on our wood-fired brick oven - the 'cornerstone' of the kitchen. In it we do everything from bake breads & pizzas, roast lamb shanks & pork chops, and bake ziti and polenta lasagna! We have a wine list offering more than 25 wines by the glass, local beers on tap by Redwood Curtain Brewing, and comfortable, professional servers top off your experience. We love serving the food we love.

“Great restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Small restaurant, a drive from the hotel, great menu and service. Several vegetarian items on the menu. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We did not have reservations - big mistake, they are very popular. But the hostess was able to seat us at the counter.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

I was really looking forward to dinner at the Brick and Fire Bistro, but was sadly disappointed. My wife and I had dinner there on a Monday night and the restaurant was very busy which speaks to its popularity. We took a seat at the small bar which offered a great view of the kitchen and the large brick oven, which we enjoyed very much. I was quite pleased with the ambience and the service was excellent, however, our food was not what we had hoped for. We split an appetizer and split an entree so our sample size was quite small. My wife and I disagreed on the Calamari appetizer, she found the calamari too chewy and bland, I was OK with the texture and taste but the size of the dish for $12 was quite small - three small pieces about the size of an orange slice. We both agreed on the entree,a roasted seafood medley - too little food and not enough flavor. The dish consisted of 1 prawn, 1 scallop, 1 oyster, 6 very small cockles, and a piece of white fish on a bed of pilaf for $22. Without the sauce which was included on the side most of the items seemed unseasoned and bland. The cockles were quite tasty but very gritty.
The couple next to us at the bar each had a pizza and were very pleased with them. If I ever go back I think I'll go for the pizza.

“Just an outstanding place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

One of the best places in Eureka... make sure you make reservations well in advance because the place is small and they are normally totally booked.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Brick and Fire is a must for anyone that loves great food and atmosphere. These are people who must love what they do and it comes through, not only in the food, but in the ambiance as well.

The tiny size of the place makes it cozy and intimate. You can see the flames in the huge brick oven flicker as the staff works preparing the food. The waitstaff was professional and a bit theatrical which adds to the setting. And then there is the food. Nothing here is cookie cutter bistro food. There is a nice variety and they resist the temptation to oversalt everything.

You will not be disapointed.

“Innovative food; comfortable interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Clever food combinations (tomato and prawn soup; peach, pancetta and goat cheese pizza; salted caramel ice cream) excellent pizza and a staggering wine list -- all great reasons to dine here. The atmosphere is friendly and casual and the staff is ditto. Eureka's often cool and foggy and Brick & Fire offers a pleasant antidote: warm and cheerful. The menu is cleverly and humorously written. Portions are Large!

A couple of caveats: You WILL need reservations. This is a small, popular eatery.
Noise level can be uncomfortable.
While it's a good menu, there aren't many options for vegetarians and/or those of us with light appetites. It's also a rich menu.
