“Best $50 motel ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

This is the best motel I have ever stayed at for $50 The room is very nice, bed very comfortable, great wireless internet connection. People at front desk are nice and helpful. Breakfast choices are about the same one gets at a continental breakfast at Holiday Inn Express.
Don't misunderstand that the typical Holiday Inn Express is much, much nicer in just about every respect.....but for $50 a night if you are a budget hotel hunter.....this is the place to be. Never had such a comfortable room for $50 like this b4.
Some of the people staying at the hotel as well as some of the people hanging out in reception are a bit on the seedy side. I wouldn't advise a women to stay there alone but other than that it is a fantastic deal especially since one can't get a decent hotel room in the San Diego area for less than $100 much less $50.....

Room Tip: No elevator so if mobility is an issue.....call in advance and request first floor with parking in f...

We stayed at the Hotel Mediteran in Escondido while visiting nearby relatives and friends. The rates were very good, so I was a bit sceptical until we arrived and checked-in. The room was very clean , well appointed, and quiet. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There were comments in another TripAdvisor posting about an adult bookstore nearby, but it turned out to be a non-issue since the bookstore is behind a wall and not visible from the hotel and hardly viewable from the street. This was a great place if you're looking for a good value in the greater San Diego area.

This motel was better than expected. The room was immaculate, had a microwave & fridge; breakfast (typical minimal continental but the waffles were a nice bonus) was included; front desk staff were polite; and the location was convenient to the freeway and Safari Park. Great deal for $50 night.

Yes, it's a motel, but for $55 it almost felt like a steal.

Yes, as other reviewers noted it is near an Adult establishment. That did make me uneasy, but there is a wall in the way.

I was fortunate enough to be placed into a Suite just above the reception area which made me feel much more comfortable as I traveled alone. How this room compares to the others, I don't know. Also, whether this had anything to do with asking to be on the second floor or booking through their website, I don't know. But, my feeling is that purchasing through their website didn't hurt.

The Suite had a King Size bed and it also had a jacuzzi and a large balcony.

The room was extremely comfortable to walk into (careful of the 3 steps leading down from the door to the floor! -- that was actually comforting to know that if anyone decided to attack me in the night they'd trip down the stairs). It was hard to believe I was staying at a motel. The bed was super comfortable (the only giveaway that I was in a motel was a cigarette burn in the blanket below the comforter). I slept extremely well. There was a TV, refrigerator and a microwave, a very large chest-of-drawers and a place to hang clothes and set-up a suitcase. There was a nice cushioned chair with ottoman and another table with two chairs to sit at. Unfortunately their alarm clock couldn't be set [which was the only thing that concerned me as I had to trust only my cellphone to wake me up] and the phone had this annoying slow blinking red light that I had to cover with the tissue box. Also, the AC/Heater was on the wall and it warmed up the room extremely fast -- I ended up turning it off after less than 5 minutes but the room temperature was comfortable all night.

The bathroom almost made me feel at home because it was quite large and very clean. The shower was small and could've used a place to put my soap and shampoo (I had to leave it on the adjacent sink). They provided very basic soap, shampoo/conditioner, and lotion. Interestingly, despite the "cheap" look for the soap and shampoo they didn't leave my body or hair dried-out. BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS -- another apparent "Motel" aspect -- the towels were skimpy and skinny but got the job done (all I kept thinking was that they were trying to discourage towel theft). I was sad I couldn't use the jacuzzi because of an apparent leak. They had a TV set-up to watch from it, too. The blinds in the bathroom needed to be fixed and I was worried if some peeping tom from the adjacent Adult establishment had decided to hang out in front of the motel he might sneak a peek of me showering off.

Location - not far off the 15 freeway. I liked that it was off on a street parallel to Escondido Parkway. With good directions or a GPS it made getting back to the 15 not too difficult a task. I only stayed here because I had business in Escondido. If you're looking to go to the Animal Park, I would suggest it. If you're looking to go to Sea World -- look farther south (unless you want to do both).

WiFi internet? Great signal. I actually ordered Domino's on my computer to have delivered at the hotel because I could trust the signal THAT much.

Price - Outstanding for what you get. I missed breakfast (it started at 7am but I left by 6:45am) - but any breakfast would've been a plus.

Would I stay here again? You betcha!

Room Tip: Book online, ask for the 2nd floor, and if you don't like street noise, ask to be put near the b...

Really clean. Room was well organized for two adults sleeping and working. Only a couple of miles from downtown Escondido. Staff was courteous and very helpful and flexible. Internet worked well, as did the laundry.

Nice place. Clean, comfortable, conveniently located. Yes, it has two adult establishments next door, but we were there on the weekend, and did not notice any noise. If another reviewer hadn't mentioned them, we wouldn't have known they were there. If your young children tend to wander off at night this might be a problem, otherwise... Breakfast was better than some (hot waffles), the staff was efficient and businesslike (albeit not particularly friendly), the wi-fi was very fast.

I was a little nervous booking this motel...$55/night? In Southern California? With breakfast included? It sounded a little too good to be true.

We stayed here as an overnight between Ensenada, Mexico & LA, so we were just looking for a place to get a good night's sleep. I was still a little skeptical when we pulled up by the looks of the outside & the bar next door...but the woman at the front desk was very friendly & our room, was updated nicely & very clean. Breakfast in the morning is just basic: bagels, cereal, waffles.

If you're looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay, this is it.
