“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

My wife and I had lunch at Bellamy's yesterday. I ordered a lamb lollipop and she ordered scallops. Both were superbly prepared and delicious. This was our first visit, and we will definitely go back again.

“Food and service - both excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

Exquisite. We enjoyed the tasting menu, and every bite was beautiful, both in flavor and presentation.

Chefs Ponsaty and Reidy (both of whom made appearances in the dining room to say hello), GM Trevor, servers Christina and Kyle - all are consummate professionals without pretension. They clearly know excellent food and simply love sharing it with others. It's rare to walk into a restaurant for the first time and be made to feel like part of the family!

I can't wait to go back and visit again!

“Great food in the heart of Downtown Escondido”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I had a fantastic lunch at Bellamy's and I look forward to returning for dinner. The orange-pumpkin soup was incredible, as was the arugula salad. Please make the effort to visit this excellent restaurant and Mobil Five Star Chef Patrick Ponsaty. You will agree, it is a great addition to Escondido.

“Passion for Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

Living in France, I witnessed two grown men (not chefs) arguing for an hour over the best way to cook a rabbit. In the US, with our "food as fuel" approach to cooking, I have never seen such passion applied to a meal - until yesterday. As the Executive Chef at Bellamy's described the meal - wild arugula salad, crudities with truffle sauce, pumpkin soup, house made flatbread sandwiches, ratatouille, lamb, and prime rib he started to get choked up. When he got to the peppercorn sauce, I was sure he was going to cry. The passion shows in the food. The petit pain au chocolat was excellent, the ratatouille was sublime. Manager Trevor Da Costa knows his wines - the Jayson chardonnay was buttery without being over-oaked and the Nickel & Nickel cabernet was huge. Owner Gianina Dicicco has done outstanding work in bringing this team of passionate professionals together. So whether it's a meal, or a catered event, do yourself a solid and get a taste of food in Escondido that ranks with Paris or San Francisco.
