We have a few places that we always stop when we are in the San Diego/La Jolla area and this is one of them. The food is great. They have a strawberry vinagrette salad dressing that I would drink from my bowl if my daughters didn't kick me. I would caution you about the bread that comes with the salad, it is addicting and can lead you to become too full for your entre'. I speak from experience.
They have great salads and appetizers (lobster mac and cheese anyone?), subs and a variety of traditional Italian entre's that come in sizable portions at reasonable prices. But I am here to talk about the pizza, especially the Hawaiian pizza. I am a Hawaiian pizza snob and this is the one to beat. The crust isn't just there to hold the toppings. I would eat this stuff without toppings. The mozzarella is fresh, (FRESH!) and laid on in slabs not little shreds. Then comes the juicy pineapple and not just ham, thin slices of Canadian bacon. Wowzer. Then the secret ingredient, don't tell them I told you and don't knock it until you have tried it...cinnamon. Who knew? It makes it even more amazing.
It's hard to walk past the dessert case because they are so beautiful. Hats off to the pastry chef who makes such gourmet beauties as fresh fruit tarts, a chocolate mousse pyramid, cheesecake, tiramisu and a Jack Daniels pecan tart. Unfortunately I rarely have room for
There is inside and outside dining. The patio is covered and heated when necessary. Warning: it can be noisy. The restaurant sits on the Pacific Coast Highway and is one block from the beach (which is a great place to go walk off the pizza) and at the base of the Coaster commuter train tracks which can be startling if you are not expecting it to go by. I usually can't hear it over my chewing though.
