“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Very happy with our stay. We had a Kitchen King Suite, it was very spacious and convenient. Restaurant on site with breakfast included was just what we needed. We chose this hotel for the location as we were catching the Amtrak to Reno early the next morning so we had plenty of time for breakfast and then a short stroll to the train. Even though the train was close you could not hear them at night. I would be very happy to recommend this hotel and would stay there again anytime.

My husband and I stayed here while visting our daughter in Oakland. It is convenient to the freeways, and other parts of the Oakland area. The room was spacious, clean and quiet even though it is next to the train station. The breakfast was wonderful - lots of choices, good quality, nice room for eating. If interested, there are lots of shops in the area. Would stay here again.

Stayed here for a night when visiting UC Berkeley for a meeting. I arrived the hotel by car, and they have a large car park where you can park for free. I had a one-bedroom suite. The room was quite spacious, and everything was clean. Bathroom was also ok, both the room and the hallway feels a bit dated, and could need some refurbishing. My room was facing the railroad station, and it can be a little noisy in the morning, but that did not bother me.
There was also a free breakfast buffet in the morning, where the food was "so-so". Internet was also free (and slow). Overall it was a quite ok business hotel for a couple of nights, would probably come back if I am visiting he area again.

We stayed here 4 days while visiting family in the Bay Area. The location was perfect. It was right at the "crossroads" of Hwy 80, 580 and 880. It is a very busy area but convenient. It was near 2 nice shopping and eating areas that you can walk to. There were 5 of us, 2 parents and 3 "kids" aged 18, 20 and 21. We had a one bedroom with 2 double beds and sitting area that had a pull-out sofa. It was a little tight but everyone seemed comfortable. We requested more towels, pillows and blankets and received them very fast. We had a room that faced the train station. It woke us up a couple of times but the trains usually sounded their once or twice and that was it. I didn't think it was that bad but I would probably request a room on the bay side next time. Parking was free and plentiful which was nice. Breakfast was better than I thought it would be...several hot items. Front desk was friendly and always greeted us when we came in. Overall a nice stay and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the bay side.

The staff is exceptionally friendly and accomodating. The rooms are suites with lots of room, clean and quiet. The included hot breakfast is very good. The location affords easy acess to the Bay Street shopping district, the Bay Bridge and other freeways, as well as the Emeryville station for Amtrak. This is a very comfortable hotel and a good value.

Room Tip: Facing west, you see the Bay Bridge and San Francisco Bay. Facing east, you see Berkley and the Amtr...

My daughter lives in Berkeley near Gilman and San Pablao. Her house doesn't have enough room and after trying the Shattuck and other options we settled on Emeryville. The first place we stayed was the Courtyard in Emeryville. It is very nicely appointed but there are no free anything that comes with the room One must pay for breakfast and parking. Emeryville is very nice for short stayers or business because it it is adjacent to the Oakland Bay bridge that takes you into San Francisco. It has all sorts of shop from retail to Trader Joe,s restaurants and a multiplex theater. I really like the Hyatt because all the rooms are suites and can hold as many as 4 people. There is all the things you need in the kitchen to cook a full meal Also parking is free and so is a buffet breakfast. Those are very positive things including the rooms are quiet.
The things that don't make it 5 wstars are the inability to get into the hotel from the Powell street off ramp without getting lost. Once you figure it out the confusion is worth it. The second thing that takes away from the hotel is that it need refurbishing. This is planned for this coming year. All the rooms are clean but look slightly worn. I really do recommend this hotel. I like where it is and what it offers.

Room Tip: Get a good set of directions to get to the hotel for when you get off the off ramp

I had a meeting in Emeryville and stayed at this hotel only to hear the train several times at night. I was shocked at how loud the train was and told the front desk but there wasn't anything they could do. The buffet breakfast was average. I did like that the wifi was free. If I have another meeting in Emeryville I would not stay at this hotel.
