“Good stay at HGI in El Segundo..."”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2011

I've stayed here twice in the three months. I like the HGI-El Segundo because you can always find a good rate here; it offers free parking; is quite clean and well-kept: and boasts contemporary decor and amenities. (I appreciate that HGI properties have a microwave and refrigerator in the rooms.) I like the location because it's far enough away from the busyness and stress that you sometimes experience staying at a hotel situated on Century Boulevard, but close enough to be a five or six minute ride back to LAX by free hotel shuttle. There's also a huge Whole Foods housing several eateries and a great Japanese restaurant called, "Kaya," near-by. There's a Ralph's Market, as well, in case you need anything else, and several gas stations on close-by Sepulveda Boulevard at which to fuel-up your rental car before you return it. Just after you pass an open-air big box outdoor mall on Sepulveda called, Plaza El Segundo, you enter the city of Manhattan Beach which provides you with many other options, including the beach! BTW, freeway access is just a few blocks away, too.

The hotel staff is cordial and personable, including the young woman who checked me in whose name badge said she was from Illinois and the young man who helped me with change whose badge said he was from Taiwan. The folks in the restaurant gave good service, too, and the breakfast buffet was more than satisfactory. I'll continue to return to this property when I'm in Los Angeles. It's always a good stay at HGI in El Segundo.

Lovely stay at the Hilton Garden Inn! The grounds are immaculate and so beautiful. Definitely does not feel like you're as close to LAX as you are. The location is ideal. Ver close to LAX, but it is in a quiet business area that is nice, safe, and clean. the staff is so very nice, friendly, and accommodating. Rooms are clean and good sized. This hotel is definitely my new LAX area hotel.

Last night my husband and I arrived for a one night layover at LAX after over twenty hours of travel since leaving our hotel in Santiago, Chile. The last three days of our South American vacation were challenging and both of us were under the weather. We were just hoping for a decent night's sleep before catching our morning flight home. What we got from HGI was a wonderful surprise and great respite. First of all the shuttle van picked us up within minutes after I called - I'm not sure we needed to call as I think the van runs somewhat regularly. The driver was cheerful and loaded/unloaded all our bags. The hotel is very close to LAX. The lobby very warm and comfortable. But the good part was just beginning. Our HGI honors check in was not only quick, the agent ("Ralph" I think - young Asian guy) a) wished my husband a happy birthday - which we'd almost forgotten about because of long day of travel, and b) gave us a fantastic room with a jacuzzy tub and multiheaded shower (lots of fun and so great after our long journey),and C) brought a complimentary bottle of wine to our room.
We really enjoyed the hd tv and fun gliding reclining chair. The super comfortable king bed is what the doctor ordered for our old jet lagged bones.
Granted, I stay at HGI's a lot on business travel and have a reasonably high HH Gold whatever, but I see from the other comments that everyone is welcomed like a VIP here. This is my first visit to this property but if I have to stay near LAX again this is where I will be.
Oh yes, as other have mentioned, wifi is free.

Highly recommend.

This is a clean, well kept hotel. It's relatively new furnishing are in top shape, there is a microwave and mini fridge in each room which is always nice. The room is big enough and the desk is a nice size with adequate leg room and a real office chair. There is complimentary wireless. The bathroom is brightly lit and spotless.

The hotel is quiet and the airport traffic does not start until after 7am and even then is not offensive.

The restaurant/bar area is very small but there are many choices nearby.

This is the second Garden Inn I have stayed at with both being nearly identical in furnishings and quality. They have done a good job here.

Stay here if you want:a plesant time. The hotel is 5 min by prompt shuttle to the front steps. Check in was fast and easy being a HHONORS member. the room is in a "L" shape hotel configuration.
Pros: Clean, nice staff, heated pool, 3 stop lights from major stores and fast food eats. (Chipolte's is there as is Ralphs, El pollo loco) Metro stop is right out the door. Elevators were quick and did I mention how nice the staff were? free parking and internet in a LAX airport area is rare. I love that service.
Con: The exercise room was a bit small for the size of hotel. Business center was always busy.
I can see why others liked this hotel.

We planned on only staying one night and then moving to more of a resort hotel, but the personnel, service and facilities were such a welcoming surprise for an airport hotel that we decided to stay all 4 nights! We were returning from 3 weeks in Sydney Australia.

It started with their free shuttle van and driver, Madison! Super friendly with lots of answers to our questions of where to go, etc.! We realized that the shuttle would take us to the front door of the best Mexican Restaurant in Manhattan Beach one night and to the beach communities the next day! We felt convenient to everything, not just the airport.

The hotel was super clean and had a very cheerful, well-decorated and inviting lobby with nice patio areas with lots of vegetation ...you didn't feel like you were near the airport. Our room was great...updated and roomy. There aren't many hotels that offer two queen size beds and when you are traveling with older children, this is a must. The price was very reasonable, considering it was New Year's Eve and the Rose Bowl.

Again, just a great surprise for travelers needing to be convenient to the airport.

The moment we walked in, we felt comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. First night, we didn't figure out how to close the draps and didn't sleep as well because of light and noise from the nearby metro tram. Once we asked and closed the curtains, nothing bothers us. Love the side entrance, which was closer to our rooms for convenient in and out of the hotel instead of having to go through the front entrance every time. Great location that's close to airport without the noise and still pretty quick drive to places like downtown LA, Hollywood, Beverly Hiils, San Gabriel...beaches. Business center and gym meets our needs completely. Will definitely stay here again!
