“Pleasantly suprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

When I arrived at Cedar Lodge I was a little unsure. From the road it does look a little like a motel but once we got inside we were happy. The on site diner did good, reasonably priced food and after a very long day hiking Half Dome, this was perfect for our needs. Bed was comfy, bathroom clean. Hot tub was a nice touch but we were kept up all night by the people upstairs turning theirs on and off all night. 20 minute drive from the entrance to the national park, not too far at all. There is a little shop on site but don't rely on it - we were looking forward to a nice glass of wine but the shop didnt have a corkscrew. Also the buffet breakfast in the on site restaurant did the trick. There is a pool but we opted for the beautiful river across the road.

Room Tip: Get an upstairs room!

So I was, if honest, very concerned about this stay. it was included in a tour package i had for yosemite and ahead of travel there was not great things to be said on tripadvisor etc. But, I was VERY impressed (and I am choosy on hotels!).
Very American motel ish from the outside, located beautifully on a river and not too far outside Yosemite park. Rooms are spacious, 2 large queen beds and an amazing hot shower. Decor a little tired, but better than i thought, and offset by a great swimming pool.
Busy eateries but all needs are covered - restaurant and bar/diner which is not bad for quailty.
BAr vibe is fun. Good breakfast.
wifi options are the pain here - only in lobby at $9 for 24 hours but awfully slow. no in room wifi .

We stayed at the Cedar lodge for 2 nights while we visited Yosemite.

We had stayed there 12 years before and it was very much the same - pretty good with big rooms and 2 beds.

Unfortunately we were above the swimming pool at the back with no view. However they had made the best of it and had laid out a nice sitting area which we used in the evening. We could view the Blue Jays which was nice and have a beer and G&T.

If you could not manage it the 3 sets of stairs with heavy suitcases would be daunting.

We ate in the main restaurant and found this well priced and surprisingly good, also we ate in the diner area which was well priced and again quite good.

Yosemite was wonderful and we made a trip to glacier point (not to be missed). A good idea would be to take the shuttle round the park - it is every 10 mins if you don't want to drive round.

One downside is there is no mobile signal and the wIfi was only available in the registration foyer and cost $9.95 for 24 hrs. The Cedar lodge and Parc 55 in San Francisco were the only hotels on our trip to charge for wifi.

All in all the Cedar lodge was Ok, given the limited choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room which is not over the swimming pool or rear facing, that said the sitting area at the...

This hotel is great. We stayed here mid september. Beautiful surroundings of the national park, just 30 mins outside of Yosemite village. The drive to yoesemite village is hassle free and there is plenty of free parking once inside the park and also at the hotel. Our room at the Cedar lodge was great, nice and spacious with all the amenities including a fridge and we also had a balcony which was nice. Staff were friendly and check in was hassle free. Buffet breakfast was nice and good value, plenty of choice of fresh fruit cereal, pastries and cooked breakfast ( although the cooked breakfast didn't look overly appetising, but we were more than happy with the other options). Staff at breakfast v friendly and helpful also. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others .

This is a busy place. The main site where the reception and restaurants are located is bustling. We were given a room in an annexe of the lodge about three miles down the road (if you are staying here, it is around a blind corner and we nearly missed it every single time!). While the main site is busy and crowded, the annexe is quiet, there are no shops or restaurants here. The room was fairly large, and had a kitchenette which was useful. The rooms were standard, don't expect anything special. The worst part about it was the air conditioning unit. It cooled the room down really well, but it was difficult to sleep with the noise (and the heat when it was off).

Its worth staying here as it's close to the Yosemite park entrance, but its not much more than that. Yosemite Park is great, so don't spend more time at Cedar Lodge than you have to (and maybe bring some ear plugs)

We stayed here on a climbing trip for three nights. It's a very utilitarian place to base yourself in to see Yosemite Valley and even the high country. THe rooms are nothing special but they are comfortable and relatively cheap. The hotel is located only about 20 minutes from the Valley itself, and the restaurant is actually better than just about anything in the park. There is a nice pool for swimming too. One downside: no cell service whatsoever, and internet only works in the hotel lobby and costs $9/25 hrs, which is just stupid. Nevertheless, I would stay here again.

We stayed here as part of a prebooked fly drive holiday, we did not select the lodge ourselves. The room was OK, noisy air-con, and some grubby stains on the walls and ceiling. The staff were downright miserable, not one of them managed a smile or welcome of any kind. We ate in what is laughably referred to as a diner. Hah! the food was lukewarm and served, I mean, slung onto our table, in a plastic basket with plastic cutlery. The bar served our drinks in the bottle, we had to ask for a glass. The lodge is a good 20 minutes away from the park (not 5 minutes as the hotel website stipulates)
the shop is mega expensive and al in all thisbwas the worst place we stayed at during our two week holiday.
