“Needs an overhaul”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Yosemite View Lodge is in a nice location along the river, just outside the park. Some of the staff could use an attitude adjustment. I asked if the other party we were travelling with had checked in yet and got eye rolling and huffing. The same reaction when we asked for two room keys. Also, they either have a towel shortage or poor laundry facilities as they couldn't provide us with complete towel sets on a consistent basis. The pillows are the worst I've ever experienced at any hotel. It would have been nice to have a screen on the patio door to keep out the insects. The breakfast buffet has a lot of variety but the quality could use help.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river.

My husband and I stayed there 2 weeks ago for 3 days and loved it only about a mile or so from the gate nice room and clean. There is a restaurant right there and a pizza parlor not much else nearby the great place to rest after hiking all day.

With the millions of visitors heading for Yosemite Valley during the spring and summer months lodging can be extremely hard to find unless you made reservations months in advance. Yosemite View Lodge would be the first place I would try if the park is full. The first big plus is that it is the nearest hotel from the valley. For a few extra bucks you can get a room next to the river which I love and have found to be very relaxing. There is something about the sounds and views of this beautiful river only a few feet from your balcony. For you but active hikers you may enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub at the end of the day to help you unwind. They have a nice breakfast and dinner options although the dinner options are limited. The rooms are dated but clean, and are on par with anything you can expect for this region.

Overall, this hotel has clearly seen better days: the furniture still looks like it's from the seventies, and the bathroom appears to date from the same period without some well-deserved maintenance meanwhile. See pictures for the faucet in the bath, mould on the bathroom walls, and the hairdryer which came off the wall when simply trying to pull it from its holder.
Cleanliness: the room itself wasn't very clean either. E.g. under the corner of our bed (but still visible when standing up) lay a crisp rest from a previous visitor.
Noise: the walls/ceilings are quite thin: we could easily hear the people above us walking around and using the bathroom. It's positive that there was a fridge in the room, but since that as well was quite old, it was quite noisy too, its engine coming off and on, thus making it harder to sleep. Hardly any noise from the road though.
Location: very good, very close by Yosemite national park and a gas station. Very nice surroundings.
Connectivity: cell reception was problematic; only a few operators have reception here. There is only paid (and expensive) WiFi available ($10 per night per connection).
Conclusion: I don't think I would stay here again, as the good location and the friendliness of the staff were about the only positive points of our stay here, certainly given the quite steep price. I guess the owners know that there are very few other options in the neighbourhood, so they're probably not much inclined to make any changes.

My wife and I just completed a visit to Yosemite National Park and this was the hotel we used to access the park. Our room, which was in the Sequoia building was large and very clean. It had a small kitchen and a jacuzzi tub in the room. The shower was huge... able to accommodate 2 adults. The room was always serviced promptly and we never returned to a dirty room. Even though there were many people there, it was quiet and comfortable. The river was right outside our room. The king sized bed was firm, but the pillows were flat and need a refresh.
Considering how hard it is to get reservations in the park, this is definitely a great spot. Without traffic, it is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel to Curry Village coffee shop. Since the hotel is lower in altitude from Yosemite, it is much less bothered by snow. During our visit, it was on the only road open out of the park. I would certainly stay their again. Internet access costs... You will have NO AT&T service here... Any long distance calls on the land line phone are expensive.

Very dated and dark accommodation, but being right next to the river was lovely. We hadn't realised that it would take us about twenty minutes to actually get into the park. The little kitchenette was useful, allowing us to prepare breakfast and a picnic lunch. Great little pizzeria on site, which we used when the restaurant had too many coach loads to cater for other residents. There is a tiny convenience store, but they had no bread or eggs. I was shocked that the bed sheets were not ironed, and it felt as if someone had been in my bed before me!

The only thing this place has going for it is the location. The lodge is very old and average, rooms nothing to write about, totally not worth the amount you pay for it. Only good thing in the room was that it had a basic cooking range and some utensils so you could at least fix breakfast. I guess because of limited options in and around Yosemite, they really have no reason to update the place or make any effort at all to make it in sync with the lovely surroundings!! Be prepared to be taken back in time :-) We did not bother checking out the pool or eating options here.
