“Friendly staff, clean rooms!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

From the front desk to the cleaning crew, everyone greeted us with smiles and friendly hellos. Rooms were very clean as usual. Saturday morning breakfast was great with scrambled eggs and sausage. (Helpful for guests who may be gluten intolerant or paleo diet followers)
We will be back! :)

Easy location to access - IHOP on same lot, with many more food establishments nearby - very dove hunter friendly w/cleaning tables and shade all set up and ready for free use! It was way over 100 w/high humidity outside, but inside was cool - even the hallways. The staff is very friendly and eager to make your stay comfortable, too!

Hotel was fine.
I have a complaint with the manager, a Mr. Valenzuela.
By mistake I left behind a pair of 4 week old, $200 pair of running shoes. I tried and tried and tried to get the manager to mail them to another best western. Then I asked him to mail them to my home address. In each case I offered to re-imburse him for the cost in any way he chose!

If that wasn't bad enough, best western sent me a review to fill out. When I did so and mentioned that I was still (6 weeks later) waiting for a reply from Mr. Valenzuela, I got an automated email reply from Mr. V telling me what a valued customer I was and to contact him if he could do anything else. This was enough to turn me off against any future best westerns.

We stayed at John Jay in Dec, 2009 and returned Jan, 2012. Service was great, rooms clean, WiFi worked great. (was down one morning for a couple hours) We stayed 13 nights this year as El Centro was central for us to drive to over 20 golf courses within an hour and ahalf distance. Alex (manager) and staff were always friendly and happy to help in any way. We have always stayed in one of the suites, not sure what the other rooms were like but the suites are great. We will be back next time we are in southern California.

Room Tip: If staying any length of time stay in a suite, more room and close to outside entrance.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2011

We recently booked 2 King Business Suites at this location. It is an easy access from the freeway, close to a grocery store, fast food as well as an IHop. The rooms were clean and lived up to advertisement except for the Wifi in the individual rooms. It was not working at all. There is a computer in the lobby that can be used but it is not in a private area. We had asked for non-smoking but only one of the assigned rooms was actually smoke free. When this was brought up to management they were quick to reassign, and in fact upgraded that room. The complimentary breakfast was ok but we stuck with the yogurt and fruit provided. There is a coffee station as well as juice bar available all the time, near the lobby, and that was really appreciated, especially since the coffee packets provided in the room produced very weak coffee.
Any issue that we had was immediately AND cheerfully addressed, outside of the wifi. I did not view the regular rooms but can recommend the king business suites. It is nice to be able to close the bedroom door if you wish to sleep and let others watch TV, visit, or conduct business in the living area. One of our suites was for a family with small children and the separate bedroom was a blessing

Room Tip: specify smoking or non-smoking as both are available.
