Well worth eating here - imaginative menu supported by able staff

I met a friend at this restaurant last Saturday. I had never been there before and when I was disappointed that it was a brunch menu, the server offered to order grilled fish and salad from the kitchen, obliged my request for a one ounce pour of wine and found some multigrain bread to go with. This was graceful kindness far beyond what I expected and the food was very well-prepared. Thank you, Four Seasons.

Had the beef (I think they called it Japanese-style) Panini with a side salad. The bread on the sandwich was stale and there was little meat on the sandwich. The salad greens seemed old and the dressing was unbelievably salty. The only good point was that the service was relatively attentive. Not good at all, especially for a high priced lunch. I had food as part of a large group at this hotel in a banquet room that was much better, so I was disappointed with my first time at the restaurant.

We had a great dinner - uncommon even for 4 star hotel (it is inside the Four Seasons hotel in East Palo Alto)
"Traditional" melonne e prosciutto - it was really special as they serve both "heirloom" cantaloupe and honey due, they were perfectly ripe and help mellow the light saltiness of the delicious prosciutto di Parma.
Probably the best rissotto (il primo) I had in a restaurant - seafood rissotto - with the seafood perfectly cooked (not overcooked! as is common to experience anywhere else) (with a nice 1/2 bottle of French Sancerre good for both apetizer and first plate).
Secondo was a very tender ribeye steak with chanterelles/squash/apricot that went well with a 1/2 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon (Grgich- from Napa).
For "dolci" a very original upside down peach-polenta cake - yeah!
Each dish was coocked with care - the wine selection is excellent and measures up with the best restaurants of the San Francisco Bay Area.
