We won the reservations at a school silent auction, so we figured that these must have been donated by other parents who know what a relaxing getaway is worth. After calling a staffer on numerous occasions, we were told that this hotel was the "new" sister hotel, and everything was clean and new. We decided to use the gift certificaie and pay for an extra night to stay the weekend.
So away we went... and when reading others' feedback, combined with the beautiful public relations photos, we thought that luxury was right around the corner.
Then we arrived....
We got there late at night and saw the tacky green and red strip-lighting and with raised eyebrows entered the lobby. We were met with very nice staff and after checking in, we looked forward to a clean, new room.
Yikes....
The room was shabby and run-down. There was an odor coming from the bathroom and we knew we had to air it out if we were going to get any sleep. The bed was hard and I had a back-ache the next day.
The next day...
After driving into town (a long drive) to shop and eat, we were having second thoughts about staying, but decided to "tough it out" and let the pools do their magic. (Maybe that was why people stayed!) We put on our suits that evening and went to relax in the hot tubs of natural spring water.
So did the roaches....
There were roaches everywhere!!! In the pools, on the walls, scurrying along the floor... everywhere!! We tried to stay in as long as we could, but were overcome by the black and brown buggers. It was time to go in and get some sleep. We checked (and double-checked) all of our belongings so that none of the unwanted visitors would join us in our room to sleep. We put on our pjs and settled in for the night.
So did they...
Roaches in the bathroom! Roaches in the bathroom! We immediately decided that enough was enough, we called dowstairs to get our towels filled with roach remains, and checked out. The staff was very apologetic, and checked us out without question. We checked into an Embassy Suites in Palm Desert for only $20 more a night. No roaches, no grime, and soft beds!
The bright side....
I had a feeling that the staff truly sympathized with our ordeal. The manager put back our money for the extra night on our charge card without question. We feel the huge problem is that ownership does not know what luxury is, so why do they lie to us in believing that is what we are getting?

Okay, the rooms wern't the Ritz but for the money the hotel was great. We were able to check in early and the staff at the front desk was helpful. The pool area was beautiful. The town of Desert Hot Springs was not the greatest, so we spent our time in Palm Springs which is only a short drive. All and all, we were happy with our stay.

My wife and I just spent the weekend at the Miracle Springs Resort & Spa in Desert Hot Springs to attend the wedding of our neice which was held at this hotel in one of thier banquet rooms. I must say, from the time we entered the lobby at this hotel we were greeted by a very friendly and courteous staff. The room that we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. I don't know where some of the other people writing reviews here were staying but we enjoyed everything about this place. The pool area was very nice and well kept, the hot mineral waters in these pools washed away all of the tence moments involved with putting on this wedding. Our spa therapies were also very enjoyable. It was also Mothers Day weekend and with the hotel completely sold out, everything was done in a timely manner. We also enjoyed eating in both of thier restaurants during the weekend. Thier Sunday Bruch was one of the best we ever had and for a very resonable price.

We stayed at the hotel in the month of March 2005. The weather was windy and cloudy with a little bit of rain. The town of Desert Hot Springs (DHS) is small and a little run down. It was very hard to find eating establisments in DHS (except for fast food). The hotel is located a ways from any eating places. We had to go to Palm Springs to find fine dining.

The hotel from an outside appearance was very pleasant. The front lobby is very nice. When we arrived at 4:30pm, our room was not ready. We waited another hour before we could check in. The reason stated was that several employees had recently quit. For the inconvience, they reduced our room rate by 15% which was very nice. The food at the hotel was good and service also good. The rooms were okay. We heard the people taking next door the whole time they were there. The rooms are not very sound-proof. The fan in the bathroom is wired to the bathroom lights which was a little annoying. The room was about the same as many Holiday Inn's I have been at.

The hotel states that they have 8 mineral spring pools. Four of the pools are whirlpools which are heated. The big pool is heated slightly. Two other pools are kids pools and the last pool is ice cold. Thus, when we were there everyone was in the four heated whirlpools.

The Desert Hot Springs Hotel is located adjacient to the east. The two hotels are under the same ownership. People staying in each hotel can swim free in any of the water pools. We did swin and wade in the DHS hotel pools and we liked those pools better. There were more pools and they were larger. It appeared to be a younger crowd.

If we get back we will probably stay at a hotel and spa in Palm Springs versus DHS.

This place is dirty and disgusting (this includes the rooms and the pools)! Think twice before staying there. It is in an isolated part of town and a long drive to any nice restaurants are shops. Also, the customer service is very poor.
