“Desert Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the El Morocco this time. We keep coming back because it is so relaxing and lovely. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We love the ambiance the rooms and the hot spring pools. If you are looking for a oasis in the desert this is the place. We plan on visiting again soon. The spa services at the El Morocco are wonderful we highly recommend getting a massage while you are there.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are very nice, some have kitchenettes and some have an extra room with a sitting ar...

We stayed in the Sahara Suite for two nights before our wedding as a pre-honeymoon. The Sahara Suite has two bathrooms, bedroom and living area, which we needed as we were able to have enough space to get ready for our wedding day, which happened to be the day we checked out. We wish we had stayed longer. We cannot describe how perfect this place is. We loved the Morroccan decor, the amenities, and the owners and staff. We look forward to going back again and staying in the same suite! I had an emergency tooth extraction during our stay and even though I could not enjoy everything as much as I wanted, the El Morrocco Inn was the place to be while feeling under the weather. The water is very healing as well as the atmosphere! We had a great two-night stay, a beautiful start to our wedding day, and our well-traveled friends and family were impressed by our terrific hideaway. Thank you, Amy and Billy

This Is a magical inn in the middle of an unlikely residential area. Do not let the location be of concern. We enjoy visiting the surrounding areas of Joshua Tree and Pioneertown (don't miss going to Pappy and Harriet's for great food and live music; see Teddy Quinn's talent revue on Monday evenings) -- this location was perfect to venture out to both. However, once one steps beyond the large wooden door with peacock feathers gently caressing the face, it will prove difficult to leave. It is a surreal experience of comfort and relaxation along with surroundings that provide a sensual delight to the senses. From the authentic and tasteful decor to the fragrant, intoxicating air. Not to forget the warm rose water hand wash ceremony performed by the host at happy hour while sipping delicious Moroccotinis. My husband and I enjoyed the whirlpool bath and lounged by the fire in the evening. Despite a few reviews, I found the breakfast in the morning substantial and of good value. There are also many other treats provided throughout the day. The people who work at the inn are more than helpful and aim to please with kinds words and delightful conversation. They also know when to appreciate that the guests do not want to be disturbed; being mindful to not intrude when appropriate. Ernest made sure to check on us before he left for the evening to make sure everything was perfect. He also shared delightful dialogue during the daily Happy Hour. He truly complimented our visit with his presence. We are frequent travelers and have stayed all over the world; trust, I do not believe one will go wrong with the decision to stay at this gem, for a weekend or a week. Be prepared for an uncomplicated and relaxing stay in a peaceful environment. If one needs to decompress from the stresses of the outside world, this is the place. Note: I feel this is the perfect environment for couples. This is not a place for friends to visit and "party" all night by the pool. There are many other nearby areas that are more suitable to do so. The inn was not crowded (I believe the owners strive for this on purpose); however, those guests who we encountered on the property were friendly and appreciated each other's privacy which honestly, one does not encounter as often while traveling!

Room Tip: While the rooms are quite comfortable and equipped with everything that one needs for their visit, i...

El Morocco was exquisite. The entire hotel looked like a page out of Morocco's finest guidebook had come to life. We stayed in one of the Sultan's Playrooms and it was gorgeous. The round bed was incredibly comfortable and the entire atmosphere was romantic and relaxing. The garden was truly magnificent. So beautiful, we actually got engaged there! We will return again for many years to come. The service was spectacular and the amenities amazing. Thank you for such a memorable vacation.

Sweet little hotel in Desert hot springs. Attentive staff, nice pools, interesting Morocco-inspired decor. The only thing I'd complain about are the breakfast pastries, industrial muffins straight from the supermarket "value" counter? Way too sweet and spongey. But otherwise good coffee, great selection of fruits, avocado, tomato, bagels etc. Nice touches that make you feel even more at home like the free-to-use DVD library, self-service port sherry and snacks in the evenings, etc.

My husband and I just spent our anniversary at the El Morocco Inn and Spa. It was just what we were looking for - a peaceful, mellow retreat to regroup and reconnect. We don't go away very often, so I really did a lot of research to ensure our time and money was well spent (did I mention what a bargain this place is?). We had initial concerns with the location after mapping the Inn. We further had concerns with the temperatures this time of year (September)... it was 103-105 degrees in Desert Hot Springs. Our concerns were completely unwarranted. Yes, the Inn is in a residential neighborhood that has seen better days, but you don't need to leave once you arrive (unless you want to... why would you want to?) and once inside the space is surrounded and you don't even realize there is a world outside. We brought food for dinner, snacks, and some adult beverages and we were all set. As for the heat, the pool is a great temperature - just cool enough to cool you off, but not so cold it's shocking, and the jacuzzi is shaded. There is a lot of shade around the pool, and the garden is lovely, shaded, and smells amazing. At night, with all the lamps lit, the feeling of being transported is complete! If the heat does bug you, go to your air conditioned room and take a nap. We napped the hottest hours away and woke up refreshed and ready for a swim. We also had massages in the prettiest room! It was so peaceful and calming. Ruby and Gloria were amazing, polite, professional, and strong! Speaking of staff - everyone was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. They seem to have a great rythm each day that ensures things run smoothly and each guest is well taken care of. Breakfast was delicious, and being able to help ourselves to a pot of hot cocoa at 2AM made for a really nice sleep our last night there. Our only complaint was the loud group of people who arrived late one evening and were talking loudly and playing music by the pool (something management dealt with quickly). It really stood out because before then, even with the pool area full, it was pretty quiet. If you are looking for a wild party place, I don't know if this is the right place. If you are looking for a respite - for a place where you can shut down and reset, this is definately it. Already planning our next time.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the Sultan's Playpen rooms upstairs... sitting area with a separate "be...
