“A relaxing escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

The staff was wonderful, the place was very clean, and the spa suite was so worth it! A great place to go if you want to get away from your busy life and just relax in a room with a personal spa...yes you own personal spa room! The rooms are clean and upgraded...just lacked art on the walls lol.

It's not located in the popular area of hotels so you avoid the busy tourist traffic. If you dont like extreme heat and go in the summer get a suite...watch movies, relax in spa, snuggle with your hunny, and only leave the room to go out to eat! Good times!!!!

The bed was not as comfortable but my husband and I are spoiled to a high-end Cal-King at home so don't count our review.

Overall, we would recommend this location if you just want a nice get-away spot without all the expensive fluff...this is no "high end resort."

Room Tip: The suite is the best! Livingsocial.com offered a great discount price so try that and other socia...

The Aqua Soleil Hotel & Spa is almost a perfect metaphor for an oasis, literally as well as figuratively: It looks like one and acts like one. That's almost - there's that word again - always a good thing.

The first hint is when you approach it from the south: Just as the other small green oases you just passed jut out of the grimy desert, the Aqua Soleil rises in solitary fashion, without any adjacent buildings (yet). With a former Holiday Inn Express clone (or similar) bulding, it is easy to ignore, until you notice a few small but tasteful water-free landscaping areas by the road. This is less impressive than other boutiques in the area, many of which have 50s or 60s charm to offer, since it's hard to tart up a three-story block-shaped building. Still, like dates from the local palms, this place may be a little wrinkled on the outside, but wow! It's sweet inside!

You get the idea as you enter past the small but hip lobby, and Dave meets you at the desk, soon to be followed by Ella, the Front Desk Manager. Reading previous reviews made me a bit suspicious of this pair; the review are so cloyingly admiring that you might think they are plants. "Dave is wonderful." "Ella's wonderful." "Staff are wonderful." Praise like this can't be the truth.

It is.

Dave and his colleagues are efficient, gracious, and make you feel like you're a valued friend, even if you DON'T know where Bridgeport, Michigan (his home town) is. Ella (who reads her email, which is refreshing, after many hotel managers who you never hear from after you make a request) is cheerful, welcoming, and eager to assist in not only conceirge services but making sure of upgrades (it was a special weekend for us...so ask her if you have one coming up too!), and insuring we knew where all hotel services were. That's a huge improvement over the room-booklet that leaves a guest to try to figure out where things are; Dave and Ella made sure we were fully oriented before we left the desk.

And that part was the best: As we approached the elevator (past the complimentary champagne) we could see the inner courtyard beckoning just as a pond of a true oasis does inside the wall of palms: Three pools - a largish swimming pool, an outside hottub, and an enclosed spa - with attractive landscaping - fully lit at 10 p.m. and open to use. This view improved as we came out of the elevatot on the third floor, to see lounge areas on a large balcony overlooking the pool. Our room - 339 - was right there.

The room was generally delightful, albeit with a few quirks, most of which can be worked out. It was nicely furnished in a modern, slightly hip, fashion, with adequate desk, sitting and table areas, as well as a small refrigerator. There was a nice dressing table just outside the bathroom (a stool or chair for it would be a good idea), and a flat screen TV. Beds were comfortable, with nice linens and duvets, and Chase The Incredible Rocket Dog claimed one immediately (the hotel is very pet friendly - $35 for a pet fee, although assist animals like Chase are free - and 339 is a 'pet friendly' room) and we loved the other one. A lanai beckoned outside the sliding door by the bed. But a few quirks need attention: One lamp lacked a bulb, and the lanai door wouldn't lock. Those tell me that housekeeping doesn't check the room fully after doing (excellent) cleaning. The complimentary bottle of (good) wine waiting was delightful, but using the tiny wine glasses in the bathroom wasn't practical, although Dave sent up some restaurant glasses quickly; Ella may need to make an IKEA run for 2 glasses for each bathroom. Then there is showering without any soap holder in the shower; while Ella said they are awaiting "dispensers" such as some hotels use, that still means no place to put a razor or shower cap or anything else, and I hope this is corrected. And lastly, I was unable to link to the hotel WiFi in the room, although others could. Road noise was a little loud (our room faced the highway) but only rarely. These are small things, though, and I'm sure they will be corrected.

You don't come here for the room, though: The immaculate pools started to fill early, without becoming overcrowded, and towels were plentiful and chairs and lounges as well. The Spa, however (the actual one, not the delightful hottubs) were, accordin to Mrs. Rusty, is to die for: Tina gave her "the best body massage ever, and the most incredible facial in my life." She is still muttering, days later, about both of them, as in, "I can't believe how relaxed I feel." Making the "oasis" inside the walls even nicer is a small breakfast restaurant by the pool (the main one is currently closed) from 8 to 12, followed by a fully stocked bar after that for those too lazy to waddle to their room refrigerators. It doesn't get better than this.

Overall, this is an extremely well maintained facility, with wonderful staff, excellent spa treatment, great pools, pet friendly, and very mellow, at a delightfully reasonable cost. We've been going to Desert Hot Springs for 10 years, and this is now our permanent destination. Thanks, Ella (and you too, Dave!).

Room Tip: If you want to have a living room suite overlooking the pool, get a room at the front on the second...

Just came back from a getaway in Palm Spring. I was surprised how much I enjoyed staying at this hotel.
Just like many local hotels in the area, this is an old structure, and does not have many new amenities you got used to. However, I see how hard the management has worked on this hotel. The bathroom is newly renovated, and it was beautiful. They have three heated pools with spring water, and serve welcome cocktails and evening champagne. I had a 90-minute signature massage (with pre-soak in jacuzzi), and it was very relaxing.
The most notable part of this hotel was its staff. The front personnel, whose name, I believe, was Elissa, took care of us from the check-in to check-out. She took care of little problems we had with the room, explained how to get most out of our stay, and recommended local areas to visits. She really made our stay memorable.
Some warning here: I was out at night after hours of soaking and some champagne, but my friend told me the other guests were partying hard and loud around pools on Friday night...... until 2am. Well,..... it is after all Palm Spring, but it may be a problem if you are traveling with a family.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on first floor near pools during weekend......... unless you are planning to party.

I read a few reviews and thought I would give the hotel a try. My room was clean and cozy, the mineral waters perfect temp, staff friendly, price just right, and the comp ice tea a nice touch. I especially enjoyed my Signature Massage which was extra but worth every penny. I had planned my stay around a nearby convention but so wanted to stay at Aqua 1 extra day--next time.

I do not know why there are bad reviews for this place. My boyfriend and I went on a weekend getaway at Aqua Soleil and had an amazing time. The property was clean, the staff was absolutely amazing and helpful, and the courtyard was beautiful (pool, 2 hot tubs, firepit, grill, and tons of lounging areas). I would suggest going into town for dining experience though.
All around, Aqua Soleil is a great affordable place. Some people just can not be pleased.

We went to Aqua Soleil for 2 days and had great time there.... this hotel became one of our favorite hotels... I would strongly recommend to anyone who wants to have great time for an affordable price. The hotel has clean and well taken care of pool and jacuzzis filled with mineral water which makes you feel relaxed after swimming an hour. I can say, mineral water in Hot Springs is magic..... it takes a way all you stress and muscle aches. There are also jacuzzi in the rooms as well. The rooms are very clean, well furnished with large private balcony. The management of the hotel is super nice. Front desk manager Ella made a great surprise for us when she knew that we just got married. She made a huge hear from roses on our bed, brought champagne and chocolate.... It was such a nice surprise..... Thank You Aqua Soleil team
