Cabot built this quirky adobe in Desert Hot Springs. He gathered the materials from all over and built adobe bricks he made. You can't take photos inside, but it is very interesting and affordable. About $10 per person for a guided tour. You can't beat that!
The house is interesting and odd, no building codes used here folks! His second wife insisted on her own apartment, so he added that on to the house. He had a artist's colony there, and many students. He was an interesting man, an electrical engineer, an artist, builder and individualist.
The tour would not work for anyone too large or in a wheelchair or walker. You have to climb a very tiny staircase well to get to the wife's apartment.
