“Alert: Dogs give rave reviews a-bowt their beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

4 paws up are what my 3 dogs gave when I asked if they liked their outing to Del Mar North Beach, affectionately called dog beach. We were able to find free parking on Camino Del Mar, also called US 101, as we made a left from SR 6 just passed Del Mar Fairgrounds. It is the area north of 29th St, hence called North Beach as well. Free parking can be found just past the bridge, otherwise there are paid parking areas. You can backtrack and walk across the bridge to enter North Beach. Your dogs will help guide the way. It is shallow area, bring your dog's favorite toy and blanket. Don't forget the water. There seemed to be plenty of room for people also. During the summer months, dogs must be leashed. Search "Del Mar Dog beach" for restrictions at other times.

“On-Leash season”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

Great beach for the dogs. Its unfortunate that the rules have changed and the off- leash beach facility has an on-leash mandate from July 15 until after labor day, kinda takes all the fun out of it. And don't forget to feed the parking meter, fines are heafty

“Good dog beach.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Like most dog parks, you get a mix of good and bad dogs, and a mix of good and bad dog owners. If the tide is out, your dogs can run and play for almost 1/2 mile along the beach. It's pretty and it's friendly and it's a lot of fun. Then you can hit the do it yourself dog wash in Encinitas.

“great for people watching”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

This is a very nice little beach, for people and dog watching. All the dogs seemed to get along with each other. The older ones just watched the younger ones play. One dog was only interested in playing fetch. The rest were content to chase each other in and out of the surf. There was plenty of parking and a couple of port-a-potties available.

“Dog beach is a great free way to spend the day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013 via mobile

Do you love dogs? Do you love the beach? Do you like mingling with the rich and famous?
This place is for real! Dogs and their owners run and play in the surf right on the beach in the ultra posh beachside city of Del Mar. Right by the Del Mar racetrack and fairgrounds. Awesome clean breach with plenty of eye candy!
