“Perfectly fine hotel close to conference center and Mondavi Center at UC Davis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

I was attending a meeting at UC Davis and this hotel was recommended. I travel a lot and am a platinum level guest at Starwood hotels, so a Hyatt is quite infrequent.

The hotel is right next door to the conference center on campus and very close to the Mondavi Center. Couldn't be more convenient to campus.

Room and service were very good. Internet was fine. Both a breakfast was fine. I recommend staying here.

Room was clean and comfortable. Closet was oddly situated and a little difficult to use because of that. Good size for a suite, with refrigerator, desk, couches, and ottoman. T.V. was situated on bedroom side of suite, so difficult to watch it from the couches. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. They were obviously students, so weren't knowledgeable about the huge variety of restaurants in town. Lovely, small, outdoor pool and bikes available for guest use - very useful in Davis where everyone rides bikes and parking is problematic. Breakfast was a no-go since there was little that was gluten-free. Other Hyatt's offer fresh omelettes, but only frozen egg sandwiches here. Overall, though, I would stay here again over other hotels in Davis. The others were more expensive and not as clean or comfortable.

Room Tip: Stay on arboretum side of hotel to cut down on train noise from the highway side. Train tracks are r...

Went on college trip. Closest hotel for tours. Beautlful walk on the arborterum to town. Fantastic breakfast even though they kept running out of silverware, that was kind of weird. Rooms are super comfortable. Proximity allowed my high school junior to come and go as he pleased in order to connect with his college friends and attend classes. I thought it was a little overpriced but it was convenient.

Room Tip: Name brand hotels in the town are close too.

We have stayed here before with nothing to complain about, but this time was a little different. I am a Platinum member of the Hyatt rewards program and had requested a top floor room away from the elevator. Upon check in, the room that we were given was not on the top floor and was right next to the elevator. In addition, food from the prior occupant was left in our refrigerator. Also, every time that the upstairs unit flushed their toilet, you could quite loudly hear the water rushing down the pipes in the wall (this was in room 322). While the rooms do have a refrigerator, there are no microwave ovens. To their merit, hotel staff was very friendly and the room itself was large and the beds were comfortable. The hot breakfast was average and check out was very easy. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel, but it just did not meet my expectations this time.

Room Tip: Top floor, away from the railroad tracks are the quietest.

This was our go-to location for two years of traveling to UC Davis every few months. Convenient, clean,
courteous, and breakfast included. The only concern is getting a reasonable price - we have seen ranges
from $110/night to over $200/night with popular UCD activities. If you think you are needing a room,
book as far as you can in advance for best rates. Staff and amenities were always great - free parking w/room.
Great for families due to the included continental breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: Try for higher floors; usually the rooms toward UCD are quieter...train and freeway activity on the...

Nothing is perfect! The hotel is really good, the staff is very, very helpful (and polite), big rooms and the breakfast was also great. My only complain is about the rate... I paid almost $200.00 for one night (and ops... I booked two weeks in advance)... but it is a great place to stay if you must attend a conference on campus or a performance at Freeborn Hall (as I did when stayed there to see Phoenix last week - a great one). I recommend this hotel and will definitely go back... specially with a better rate!!!!

Stayed for a few nights for a conference on campus. Rooms are a good size, with a very nice floor plan for use of space. Front desk was very friendly. Breakfast was also great. A nice plus about this hotel - is that they have bike rentals to get around campus and town!

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the train tracks - it can get noisy around 11pm.
