“RITZ CARLTON LAGUNA NIGUEL UNPARALLELED VIEWS AND SERVICE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I spend labor at The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel and had a wonderful time. First te location is amazing. Situated in South Orange County, California the location has some of the best weather on the planet. No air-conditioning required in the summer and hardly a need for heat in the winter. Then the view is incredible. This is all on top of great appointments and service.

The property was beautiful! The views are amazing! It was such a busy weekend that it took 3 hrs to get into our rooms. We stayed on the club level so at least we could enjoy the drinks and snacks they had to offer. As long as we stayed on the 4th floor we were treated wonderfully. At dinner we waited an hour and a half for our food to come. The food was great once we got it. We went down to the pool and not once were we ever asked if we wanted a drink. The servers looked upset to be working that day. They also misplaced our friends bags so that took a while to sort out as well. I know they must have been busy this weekend, but I expect a lot more from such a high class hotel.

beautiful location. STUNNING VIEWS. absolutely breathtaking vista. a comfy mattress and smiling staff. ... however....

i spent 6 dollars for a diet coke; enough said. this hotel makes you feel as if you are in the middle of vegas/disneyland/epcot center/ chucky cheeze. there are children everywhere, international weddings around every corner, and euro-trash fragrance pumped into the lobby. the decor is expensive yet tasteless. the hotel was PACKED like an airport and the bars close at 11pm. the rooms are simple and small without any amenities. the staff is friendly yet something feels as if they have no formal training whatsoever, and they lack a sense of class. the beach is small and public and the pools are littered with 'marco polo' and splashy unattended children.

this was supposed to be THE RITZ! and it felt like 'Circus Circus' in Las Vegas. NOT CHIC.

This is my favorite place to stay in the world! The location is breath taking as is the hotel... everything is just perfect here and a little more laid back then your regular Ritz which is really nice because I have stayed at some & they are a bit too stuffy for my tastes. You have beach goers along with people trying to "fancy" and it is a good mix. This place will make you forget all your troubles and stress just melts away... actually, it just doesn't exist. The staff are there and attentive without being n your face. Very, very nice!

Room Tip: They have a free shuttle to the beach and back, club level is worth the price. High tea is a lot of...

The food was good not great, although the service was top-notch (we loved 180 Blue). The pool was nice, however, I wish the adult pool was bigger for lap swimming.
Having said that, this hotel-property screams luxury and class. I would have loved to have had another few nights. I can't think of a better place to relax and unwind. The view is spectacular from every part of the hotel, except the pool. The property is clean and spacious, you can run along the beach, which is beautiful by the way. The gym is updated with great equipment, moreover, the panoramic view of the ocean while you're working out is just over the top spectacular!!! The valet service was first rate!! The valet staff went above and beyond asking if we needed directions, water or any other services. The maid service did an outstanding job making sure our needs were met asking if we needed more towels, water etc. The service overall was impeccable!!!! (Tucker from Boston symbolized the top rate service and class of the hotel). My wife and I can't wait to return!!!!!!!!

Myself, husband 2 & 5 year old spent 4 days at this property after 3 days in Beverly hills & prior to 9 days at pelican hill! Apart from a stunning location & a few excellent staff members (manager ronnie & maintenance man Miquel) we were highly disappointed with the standard! Rooms on the surface very nice, however the carpet in our suite smelt so bad, it turned my stomach! The AC was so noisy we literally didn't sleep for our entire stay (I have never encountered anything like it) to be fair the hotel offered to move us, however on nite 2 (out of 4 nites) did not feel worth it! We were credited a full nights stay, but it ruined the experience! Food really bad in every restaurant apart from the outside bar overlooking the ocean! The service in the steak bar was really lacking. There was a distinct lack of professionalism, it felt amateur!

The spa prices were ridiculous, we stay in amazing 5 star properties around the globe & the prices here were too much, to the point we didn't even bother!

The pool area felt claustrophobic, beautiful views around the hotel, however the pool aRea does not benefit any, concrete jungle springs to mind!

Breakfast was very one dimensional, I personally prefer the choice of buffet or a la carte, the only option was a very expensive a la carte!

Finally, I think it is a real liberty to charge valet when you are staying at a resort 'out of town'!

Having spent a lot of time in the US on vacation, it is a property I wouldn't wish to return to.

We were there recently for a week-end getaway from Toronto and I have to say it was a very memorable experience. My family of four (8-12 yr olds in tow) felt we had been away for a week after spending just two days in the hotel. The beach was wonderful for all. The kids played in the sand or boogie boarded, the beach concierge took care of everything when we arrived there (they have a private tram) and made us feel very special. The restaurant and bar offerings are excellent. Have the Fish Taco that is on the menu in the restaurant overlooking the cliff.....make sure you order a double because you will absolutely love it. The steak house (new concept) delivered its fine meat and accoutrements but the wine list was not up to par with the food, so I ordered the wine off another restaurant’s menu as I was looking for something special and I had seen it on the cellar wall...however I understand they have that straightened out now...For the cheese lovers, they also have a new Cheese cave...my wife loved that option for dessert. The rooms....can't say anything negative about the rooms...they were great, from comfort level, amenities offered, views to temperature. We had a room overlooking part of the beach as well as the lush greenery the hotel has. Let me put it this way, we liked our stay and client service so much so, that my partners and I are going to have our Partner's Conference there in the coming months.

Room Tip: If you want the best the hotel has to offer, stay on their concierge floor. If you want a quieter r...
