“Excellent Stay and Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

We tried to celebrate our anniversary at this hotel a number of years ago. I have to say the service was sub-par at best. A comedy of errors occurred which really soured our stay.

However, this time was fantastic and lived up to all the expectations we have for a Ritz property. The hotel is stunning, the floral arrangements were spectacular. The check-in desk personnel were knowledgeable, friendly and extremely efficient. The ocean view room with balcony was great and all the staff around the property were friendly. Room service was impeccable. The person answering the phone to take the orders was very professional and the delivery, presentation and setup were impressive.

Would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: Try to get an ocean view room here as it is stunning. However, you want a room on the right side (N...

We stayed here for a romantic getaway and were not disappointed. The hotel is incredibly beautiful and elegant without being pretentious. Every aspect of the service was fantastic. We took morning strolls on the beach, had a wonderful sunset dinner at Raya - almost didn't dine here but I'm so glad we change our minds. The food was so delicious - try the small plates.....and our waiter was so nice and helpful. (We actually preferred Raya to the Stonehill Tavern at the St. Regis - too stuffy and claustrophibic - had us practically sitting on top of two other couples and the food was a disappointment)........Afternoon cocktails at 180blu were perfect. The fitness center overlooks the ocean - makes it easier to work out. Definitely on our
list of hotels to visit again.

*To the Ritz staff - the only complaint I have is the the upright bike in the fitness center was pretty old - rusty and parts were broken - I couldn't use it. You should replace it, along with some of the weight machines.

My wife and I just visited the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel for our babymoon. It was our last trip together before we welcome our bundle of joy into the world. This place captured the charm and relaxation that we longed for. First of all: location, location, location! The view will catapult you into a state of mind that you won't forget and certainly won't want to leave. The pacific roars to life amid this place and with our ocean view on the club level, there just isn't much more that I can say other than that! The hotel sits high above the cliff's of Dana Point above popular Salt Creek Beach. If you are planning to go here all I can say first off is get an ocean view. You come here for the location so make it memorable. Wake up to the pacific in your face. Get an ocean view. We had a beautiful room on the club level/north side. Watching the sunset's every evening over the backdrop of Catalina Island is a picture we won't soon forget.

The staff at this Ritz Laguna Niguel is fantastic. From the Bellmen to club level concierge, (Penni, Colleen, etc) they treat you with class. This place, like most Ritz hotels, is all about you. The daily offerings on the club level are extremely tasty. We spent more time at the main pool on the south side of the property rather than the tranquility pool. The tranquility pool was quiet which is nice but we wanted to see more people. The spa is very nice. My wife had a facial and a motherhood massage which she loved! I had a great facial. As a guest you can utilize the spa at any time (during business hours) without having to get treatment. The sauna and steam rooms are great as are the locker rooms an amenities. The fitness center has one of the best views in all of California. Great equipment from free weights to cardio machines.

Activities are widespread at this Ritz. We had some very memorable excursions. First one you have to do if you haven't already is whale watching. We booked through the Ritz and were given a personal guide who took us to Dana Point Habour where we boarded our boat for a two hour ocean excursion following pods of dolphin and luckily finding a grey whale on its way from Mexico to Alaska. Truly amazing. To see these marine animals five miles out in the ocean is breathtaking. The guide takes pictures and gives you a disk at the end of the journey. I'd just book it through the Ritz because you get the personal attention of your own guide. Ours was Kim, a marine biologist, who knew that area like the back of her hand. Surfing is huge here. Salt Creek (rockpile) is a popular spot for the locals. Boards can be rented from Killer Dania Surf Shop through the Ritz. They are great. Had a blast! Walking trails run right in front of the hotel so be sure to take some time to lace up your sneakers and take a stroll up and down the beach and beachfront walkway. It's a sight worth capturing. We found some time to take in a stroll throught the shops and art gallery's of downtown Laguna Beach. Cab it. About 20 bucks.

As far as restaurants go we never had a bad meal. The club level daily offerings were tasty. Raya, the hotels main restautant, is amazing. Be sure you eat here. We caught a few breakfasts and one dinner. Breakfast is great. Try the eggs and crab along with the California Fitness. Dinner was outstanding. We had the steak and seafood risotto. It was a meal worth every penny. Raya is pricey but you won't be disappointed. 180BLU is a hot spot overlooking the ocean. Perfect for sunset drinks or a late night cocktail. They have gas fires lit at night so we brought cards and wine and enjoying the romance of the spot. We also enjoyed our balcony. Again, ocean view is a must. We had lots of wine with some music watching some memorable sunsets! Off property we had dinner at Tabu Grill (highly recommend) and Javiers, a popular mexican restaurant north of Laguna. Both were great.

To wrap this up, we've been to a three other Ritz Carlton hotels and this one stacks up at the top. The pictures you will take from this place will be in frames on your wall for years to come. Our bed was so comfortable we got a great nights sleep. It was a fantastic babymoon which was filled with memories. Get out there and enjoy this Ritz because we had nothing but a positive experience to tell!

visited during the easter period for one week. The hotels location is stunning. We were upgraded to a ex suite and am glad as i would find the rooms a little small,( would book this catorgory on my return visit.) Have stayed at the ritz in Naples fl, and Palm beach two previous easters, Would of liked to see a egg hunt or something for the children but this would not put me off returning at this time next year. The star of this hotel apart from the stunning location is the staff. Penni. Kathryn, Coleen and all the girls in the club lounge were truly the best staff i have experienced anywhere. The food and drink presentations were excellent and the help and advice from the club team outstanding but also very friendly.Wade the bellman that helped us with our luggage, Steven by the pool, the girl in the Market Place that found all the soccor matches for my father, i could go on and on . In summary i would say that if your holiday is all about your room this maybe not your best choice as they are a little small but if its about service, view, ambience, location and club level this hotel stands with the best in the world.
Many thanks kerry dark and family

Room Tip: go club its the best money you will spend.

Thank you for such a beautiful time on our short three day honeymoon. All of your personnel were extremely courteous and accommodating, particularly Jim Fritz, chef, and Erin Snider, restaurant manager, and Bruce Brainerd, general manager. We had multiple courtesies, including a room upgrade, champagne in the room, and some complimentary drinks upon arrival. The room and grounds made for a very romantic time. I could not have changed one thing in the way we spent our time and the way we were treated by everyone. We will always remember the special beginning to our marriage you helped us enjoy.

We stayed 4 nights in an ocean view room. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels and I would rate this a 4 star for the room we had. We were on the first floor so we did not have a view of the beach, but we could see the ocean. We also had a tub shower combination that was hard to get in and out of. The brochure we had showed the room having a walk in shower. We were in the 2nd. to last room on the south side near the public access and we had people walking by our room all day long until the evening. We had to leave our curtains drawn if we wanted any privacy. We asked to be moved, but the hotel is not that large and they were full for the week. As others have stated the staff is outstanding and the gym has a magnificent view of the ocean with many work out machines. The food in the restaurant is very good. If we stayed again we would ask for a room on the north side, not on the first floor and a walk in shower. For the price they charge for the rooms you should have more privacy than we had and a nice walk in shower.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not on the first floor. One on the north side away from the public access and...

My husband and I live in LA and had just come back from a trip with friends so we wanted to stay close on our anniversary but wanted something special. The Ritz was perfect! We have stayed in tons of amazing hotels and the service at the Ritz was exceptional. We stayed in an Ocean view room which was beautiful, the view was amazing. We then had lunch at 180 Blu. Mike was our server and he was fantastic! The white sangria was to die for and they even had very easily identifiable gluten free options which made my day (especially because the truffle fries were gluten free). After lunch we enjoyed some wine on our private patio, which was small but perfect for two people to sit out and enjoy the sunset and watch the surfers. Afterwards we had dinner at Raya, they had beautiful rose petals on our table in celebration of our anniversary and we had a fabulous meal there as well.
All in all it was the perfect stay, we didn't want to leave and we will forever stay at the Ritz!
