Overall very accommodating. Staff very helpful. Wireless internet very slow. Bedroom smell needs to be addressed. Great location, great breakfast. Parking garage easy to get in and out of. Clean sheets/towels. Television sound (we had two TV's) was poor on both TV's. Although hotel seemed full of guests, there was never a cramped feeling.

Hi Edgar! Thank you for the great review in spite of the issues with your room. Normally there is never an issue with odors in our rooms. You may have noticed that we even use those air fresheners that plug into the wall just to make sure the air is fresh and pleasantly scented for our guests, so I'm not sure where the odor came from. I believe the sound issue was with our cable service. We use commercial grade LG televisions so if the sound was bad with both TVs I'm guessing it must have been on the cable service supplier's end. We've checked the room and both issues seem to have resolved themselves.

Thank you again for the great review.

Best Western is a well known midlevel hotel chain. You expect a decent non-frills accomodation, but not much more. But the Marina Shores hotel definitely exceeded our modest expectation and I have to repeat one of the previous reviewers that it is the BEST Best Western hotel I have seen so far. Everythiing is extremely clean, the staff is friendly and efficient, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished. We stayed only one night and could not check all facilities of the hotel (i.e. we can not say anything about the breakfast because we had to leave at 6 am), but what we saw was either excellent or very good. The only thing that could be improved are AC units in the rooms: they are a bit too loud which affects sleep quality. In winter time you can sleep with open windows, but since the hotel is located right on Pacific Coast Hwy, it is even noisier.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It's great to see what an impression we can make in only one night! Tell all your friends in Jersey to look us up if their vacation plans ever bring them to southern California.

We had an great stay at Marina Shores! From the moment we walked in, Brian at the front desk did everything possible to make our family's stay wonderful! The property is in wonderful condition, the rooms are very nicely appointed, and the entire staff was friendly and concerned for our comfort. We had a suite on the second floor and the balcony was a great place to enjoy the sun and a decent ocean view. I would say a lot of other Hotels could take a lesson in hospitality from Marina Shores! Highly recommend!!

Room Tip: Pricey food in town, but lots of great choices at the Harbor. Go for a Suite on the second or third...

Found the room to be very clean with comfortable beds and nice linens. The staff was very friendly. The refridgerator in the room really chilled drinks quickly. The whirlpool tub was a nice treat. Overall we were very pleased with our room and the price was affordable.

We often stay in Best Western hotels while traveling with our child's club soccer team. They are usually just fine. This Best Western was the best: warm helpful staff, recently updated rooms with new everything, including carpet, new flat-screen TVs, parking, across the street from the beach for a room just over $100, breakfast, and decent coffee.

The staff voted your review title as the best THEY had ever seen. Thank you for the glowing words. We love it when the soccer teams come to town. The kids' laughter and excitement fills the hotel. Hope to see you back for the next competition.

Good location in Dana Point. Close to all points of interest. Clean. Friendly staff. Super easy check in and out. Room had a little patio where you could sit out on in the room. We were on 3rd floor and could almost see Dana Harbor from the patio.

This is not a bad hotel to stay at for only a couple of nights. The location is good, you need a car though to drive you to the restaurants near the water with views. The parking is only $10 per night which is a lot cheaper than most 4 to 5 star hotels in the area. I do feel that the parking fee should be waived. Some Best Western hotels offer free parking, others do not. The Best Western brand should keep it consistent. Breakfast was okay. I don't think real eggs were used or sausages either. They did not taste like the real stuff you eat from at your local weekend diner. Given the price paid for our stay here, breakfast was included in the rate, having said that, if you feel that a really good breakfast should be the most important start to your day, there are a few breakfast eateries near the hotel you can try out. The Best Western PLUS Marina Shores Hotel in Dana Point is a nice little hotel to stay at to explore Dana Point, it's not a luxury hotel like the Ritz Carlton. I did enjoy my stay here, as long as you have a car that can take you places. The price for a night's stay here is very affordable and reasonable.

Thank you for the review. I just want to clarify for you - and other readers - that all Best Westerns are independently owned and operated. Some have full service restaurants, some serve the "breakfast on the go" type like we do.

The parking is a resort area thing. Many of the hotels charge for parking (and much more than we do,) plus they have resort fees or other service charges on top of the room rate. We strive to be competitive - to provide the cleanest and most comfortable accommodations at the best price in the area. We charge only for the room and parking ... although I will add that seniors staying on the AARP rate get their parking for free.
