This inn was one of the best we have ever stayed in. The staff are fantastic. For being in Dana Point the price was extremely reasonable. The views are spectacular. Would stay again in a heartbeat. The rooms have Jacuzzi tubs, perfect for me since I have a bad leg. They also have a day spa downstairs, will try next time. Thank you so much for an incredible & luxurious stay.

We stayed for five nights for spring break. The inn is located on a cliff overlooking the harbor in Dana Point. A nice feature of the inn is that there are many interesting walks right out the door. The Strand beach is a nice place to walk to, although it is a slightly strenuous walk. There are also some restaurants within walking distance. The harbor boasts a small beach and park area, but it is better to drive there than walk. The view from our room was beautiful and I would suggest getting an ocean view or partial ocean view. However, if you want to save money and get a non ocean view room there is a great patio to sit on overlooking the harbor. Our king room was enormous and the bathroom quite luxurious, with a separate shower and jacuzzi. Breakfast and afternoon tea are included. Breakfast was good with eggs, potatoes, oatmeal and breads. Tea included wine and cheese. Often the wine was left out into the evening as well as freshly made cookies. I really liked the laid back feel of this place. Very relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The town is close to Laguna Beach and San Clemente for great shopping. I would also suggest flying into John Wayne Airport.

Room Tip: 201 and 301 have full ocean views

Business complete and driving around deciding to stay or drive home...and suddenly there it was, sitting on the bluff, beckoning us to visit. It was like that Christmas morning long ago, when nobody argued, everybody got exactly what they wanted, and breakfast tasted better than ever.

Room Tip: Pay the difference, get the view with the fireplace and balcony. Majestic!

With 3 guests arriving simultaneously to check in, Laura, the front desk staff, took everything in stride and took time to make sure everyone's needs and questions were answered quickly and completely, without holding anyone up more than necessary. Genuine interest in the guests, and a warm friendly smile was a nice contrast to a Hyatt desk clerk in Monterey who never even made eye contact during check in several nights previously on this trip. Quiet rooms ( and a polite no cell phones rule posted in al public areas) made this a comfortable inn stay for us. Guests freely mingle over wine and cheese in the afternoons ( more was even put out for us late arrivals), and there is a chance to talk with folks in the morning over breakfast and compare travel plans for the day (Tahiti, Chicago, Boston).

Room Tip: We chose a city view room, saved a bit on cost.....but no compromise on size or comfort. Absolutely...

This hotel has it all; lovely location, well-appointed rooms, friendly staff, quiet sanctuary. My sisters came from the snowy mid-west and stepped right into heaven, Southern California style.
Dana Point is fun, and is centered between Laguna Beach (art!) and San Clemente (shopping!).
It was perfect!

Room Tip: Go for the 2nd or 3rd floors. The "01" through "04" rooms have the best views we...

After a family event a group of the adults all decided to meet for a couple days and we went to the Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point. The facilities were really great and the staff was wonderful. A nice location with a beautiful view of the harbor. The common rooms were really helpful as they gave us a place to sit down together and just talk. Restaurants were close by.

I travel all over the world and stay at some of the big name hotels; The St Regis and Ritz Carlton in Monarch Bay to drop names. Big lobbies, hustle & bustle to get to your room and the air of wealth and pretense permeates these resorts. They have their place.
On my last visit to Dana Point I discovered the BLI... A quaint B&B overlooking the Dana Point harbor with well appointed rooms, cozy touches such as quality chocolates, cheeses, cookies to go with the fireplace in your room. It's quiet, in walking distance to a number of nice eateries in Dana Point and you can actually park your car without the fanfare/ritual of a typical large hotel: A breath of fresh air.
In the morning you can take a nice quiet stroll (or run) along the scenic cliffs down to the harbor and come back for a great complimentary breakfast with the warmth of a wood burning fireplace and a fabulous ocean view.
Checking in as checking out is a polite and professional transaction with a local touch... You get to leave with your blood pressure about ten points lower... and about 50% more cash in your wallet... its a bargain. They should be charging more.

Room Tip: Eat breakfast early and you'll have to ocean view to yourself...
