This hotel has it all; lovely location, well-appointed rooms, friendly staff, quiet sanctuary. My sisters came from the snowy mid-west and stepped right into heaven, Southern California style.
Dana Point is fun, and is centered between Laguna Beach (art!) and San Clemente (shopping!).
It was perfect!

After a family event a group of the adults all decided to meet for a couple days and we went to the Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point. The facilities were really great and the staff was wonderful. A nice location with a beautiful view of the harbor. The common rooms were really helpful as they gave us a place to sit down together and just talk. Restaurants were close by.

I travel all over the world and stay at some of the big name hotels; The St Regis and Ritz Carlton in Monarch Bay to drop names. Big lobbies, hustle & bustle to get to your room and the air of wealth and pretense permeates these resorts. They have their place.
On my last visit to Dana Point I discovered the BLI... A quaint B&B overlooking the Dana Point harbor with well appointed rooms, cozy touches such as quality chocolates, cheeses, cookies to go with the fireplace in your room. It's quiet, in walking distance to a number of nice eateries in Dana Point and you can actually park your car without the fanfare/ritual of a typical large hotel: A breath of fresh air.
In the morning you can take a nice quiet stroll (or run) along the scenic cliffs down to the harbor and come back for a great complimentary breakfast with the warmth of a wood burning fireplace and a fabulous ocean view.
Checking in as checking out is a polite and professional transaction with a local touch... You get to leave with your blood pressure about ten points lower... and about 50% more cash in your wallet... its a bargain. They should be charging more.

This is a lovely hotel in a very scenic location; our room was great with a large bathroom, fireplace and a balcony overlooking the water. They also have wine and cheese every evening and cookies available all day. The buffet breakfast also had a good selection so it had something for everyone. This is great for a getaway but there is not that much around the hotel, you’d have to have a car which we did so it worked out perfectly.
