“An old dame, quite well updated, easy to get around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

I stayed 5 nights in Culver City for business - a short walk to Sony. Most Sony visitors have opted not to stay here, but it looked & sounded good to me - didn't need a pool, gym room was sufficient.

Firstly, hats off to the staff - all wonderful, responsive & efficient. I loved the historic building updated for good comfort. Totally met all my needs. The main hall, serving as landing, hangout, work, breakfast & party-down space works well & felt comfortable. The continental breakfast was more than enough. The issue with noise noted by some reviewers is minor at best. On the 5th floor facing the cinema, I experienced minimal noise - being a city person, it didn't bother me at all!

If you need more, lunch & dinner - a superb array of food choices from breakfast to dinner & drinks within a short walk. Especially recommend East Borough (Vietnamese diner), Wildcraft Pizza, Cafe Vida (wholefood).

The new cool Culver City Arts area @ Helms Bakery also a short walk. As is Trader Joes, a well stocked supermarket with fresh food. Everywhere else a short cab ride.

The subway station also a short walk away, although I'm not sure how safe one might feel at night...

In summary, nothing else to ask for! Why not 5 stars? At great relative value, the old Dame is great, but not perfect if that's what you need in every corner of your hotel. But not me!

Thanks folks. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Peace & quiet on 5th floor facing away from the boulevard

Thanks for staying with us. Sony, and businesses on the Sony Lot, do use us extensively. That 8 minute walk is a breeze. To the Expo Metro station to the East, it is also just an 8 minute walk. Nice to see you explored the culinary options Downtown Culver City provides, so much variety and of excellent quality.
See you soon.

While visiting family in Los Angeles for the Oscars last year, I booked a room at The Culver Hotel for a long weekend and was pleased as punch! It is easily accessible to most of the major studios, everything you need in Culver City itself, AND personally I could even walk to the home of the family I was visiting! Walk in LA you say??? INSANE! Hahahahahahaha... Twitter and Instagram: @kmptop10

Los Angeleno's need to be taught how to walk like New Yorkers, it is true!
The beauty of Downtown Culver City is that everything is within walking distance, even the Expo Line Metro Station, which goes to USC, Staples Center and Downtown Los Angeles. Within the next few months the train will be going down to the ocean at Santa Monica.
Come on back

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst in LA for a friends wedding and it is a charming place to stay. The staff are great and the character of the hotel never wears off. We would definitely recommend it, great food, atmosphere and friendly staff.

Unique and wonderful small boutique hotel. Rooms are cozy and feel like home. Plenty of restaurants and things to do within walking distance. Very pleasant and friendly staff. I stay here frequently for business and it is a comfortable as home.

Room Tip: East side if you like the morning sun. West side faces the street with views of restaurants and sun...

We stayed here in June 2014. Great helpful staff, satisfying breakfast. Enjoyed High tea with the family. Fascinating bar upstairs set out in prohibition style. You never know who may be popping in as this is in the heart of the film studio area. Built in 1924. Used for filming Masters of Sex.
Comfortable room. A small boutique hotel that stands out as being different. Great restaurants and shops at hand. Trader Joes across the street for emergency supplies. Loved our eight nights there.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be different and set out in the decor of the era.

Loved having you stay with us for the week. Thank you for your imaginative title.
The Velvet Lounge has been voted the best bar in Culver City, open to the public on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and perfect for a Private Event for up to 70 people.
It is a long way from Warkworth New Zealand, come again.

On regular trips to visit family in Los Angeles, we usually stay in Santa Monica or Marina del Rey, but our favorites there were especially expensive this time, so we looked around. The Culver Hotel was a happy discovery for us. We enjoyed four nights there last week with our two sons, ages 9 and 5. The hotel is quite beautiful; it's old for LA (1924), nicely refurbished, stylish and interesting. I almost felt hip, though there's no pressure to be so. At every turn the staff were friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel twice and breakfast every day. The food is very good, even excellent, and the outdoor seating was perfect for us and our children, who could wander around the small adjacent plaza and its spouting fountains while we finished our meals. The satisfying continental breakfast (included) was a daily treat for my wife and me; our boys enjoyed pancakes and waffles, and even scored some Lucky Charms from a gracious server. The continental breakfast is served on what the night before was the lobby bar. That felt just right. It's a fairly small hotel; they make good use of space. Night and day the lobby is inviting, comfortable, convivial. It's appealing in the evening, busy and buzzing, sometimes with live music, and also in the fresh light of morning, when we tended to linger. Culver City is burgeoning, it seems, and the hotel is in the center of things, and at certain hours there's some traffic, so we were glad to use the valet parking: just pull up and get out (more than once toting sleeping boys). The valet staff was friendly and efficient. From our room on the plaza side of the hotel (fourth floor of six) we heard only murmurs of the liveliness below. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Stylish, too, in an understated way. For us, the Culver was a total winner.
