“Not what a suite should be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This was the worst suite we have ever stayed in. The whole design was terrible. I can get past the old CRT television in the bedroom and the cramped little corner the easy chair was in. We found after we got to our room that the only bathroom amenities were just one little bar of soap for both the vanity and the shower. I thought the room was supposed to be stocked with more than one little bar.

The design of the bathroom left a lot to be desired. In order to get out of the shower, you had to step into the hallway so you could close the shower door in this tiny bathroom. There was no shelves or a shower caddy to put your shampoo and conditioner on in the shower so you had to put everything on the floor where it wound up floating in dirty water because the drain was so slow the shower start to fill up. The temperature of the water in the shower was never constant, fluctuating between cold and scalding no matter where the knob was set. We complained to the front desk but nothing was ever done about it. I figured they couldn't do anything about the water temp but they didn't even bring a caddy for the shower even though I was told more than once that they would.

On the plus side, the bed was somewhat comfortable, the TVs worked and the elevator worked so I didn't have to lug our bags up the stairs. The AC was ok even though the deflector does not allow the fan to blow air higher than about two feet off the floor. The staff was courteous in listening to our complaints even though nothing was done about them.

We won't be staying at this hotel again.

Oh, by the way. I'm sure we could do without guests smoking pot and stinking up the whole place.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

This hotel is located perfectly. We were very happy with our stay, the room was spacious and clean. The only downside is no breakfast and no elevators, but it was worth the stay. The pool is nice and clean. Room service was on top of it. We were a 3 minute drive to Newport Beach and there are lots of surrounding shops and things to do. 5 minutes from a harbor where you can do stand up paddle boarding and eat dinner. Awesome time.

Room Tip: Stay on the bottom floor if you need an elevator. There are none.

Dear Yucky1,

Thank you for taking the time to to provide us your feedback from your recent stay at the Ramada Inn & Suites Newport Beach/Costa Mesa. I agree we are perfectly situated for beach, shops and dining. I was surprised you mentioned no elevators, we actually have 2 on the property.

Thank you again

I was there for 2 nights for my nieces wedding. When I arrived, there was no AC on in the room so it was boiling hot since it was on the 3rd floor. The deflector on the AC unit is setup so that it cools everything at about 2 foot level off of the floor - not really all that helpful in a very hot room! This was the hotel recommended on my nieces wedding's website because they had shuttle service to the docks and back. Once at the hotel, they mentioned they didn't have a shuttle to anywhere other than the airport. While at breakfast at the hotel restaurant, an employee agreed to check with her manager and get back to us - she never returned and clearly wasn't really interested in helping us. We ended up going to the front desk and arguing with the manager before they finally agreed to provide us shuttle service to the docks, but not back. Then there is the showers in the morning. My first morning I noticed there was no washcloths in the room. I called to the front desk to ask if they had any and they brought some up. My relatives and I had to laugh later when I found out they had no towels in their room, only washcloths. The water temperature in the shower varied from ice cold to scalding hot both days at the hotel - and I never once touched the knob to adjust it once I thought I had it at the right temperature. The bed itself was fine, but that was about the only thing ok in the room. If I had known that the hotel didn't have shuttle service, I would've stayed elsewhere.

Room Tip: Go for the first floor if you want a room that already a reasonable temp without having the AC crank...

I just returned from a 9 night trip to Newport Beach Staying at the Ramada Inn and I was very happy with my stay. After reading many reviews on this hotel I was a little nervous about what I was going to walk into but I have no complaints at all. Check-in was fast and easy, room was ready when we got there - we chose a room on the 3rd floor, room was clean with a comfortable king size bed, flat screen TV, mini fridge, the pool area was nice and clean - never saw any trash laying around or dirt in the pool. There were times when it would get a little noisy but that is to be expected at a pool at 3pm no matter where you are. We only spent a few hours at the pool the entire time but it was enjoyable, most of our time was spent at the beach or exploring the area. I went out for a morning run every morning and felt very safe in the area; its only about 1.5 miles down to the beach and you get a great view of the ocean as you go down Superior Ave towards PCH. There are lots of places to eat and shop near by and there is a supermarket right around the corner where we stocked up on water and snacks for our room.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there in the future, you get a really good deal for the price.

Were here 6 nights for a team event. The property is way over-priced for dirty, worn condition and lack of management effort to address issues. Pool is literally in the middle of the parking lot. No grounds to speak of at all. Bed takes up most of room and lounge area in suites is similarly cramped. They rented to a large group of underage kids for our final nights and management refused to address their partying and disruption of other families' stays.

We were checked in by a guy named Josh; a very nice and accommodating man. He asked how our travel went, where we were coming from, etc.; then asked what floor we'd like to be on. We wanted to be on the first floor and have a king-size bed; and that was exactly what he gave us. The room had a good size with a refrigerator and a single-cup coffee maker. The single-serve coffee also tasted good, though it's not Starbuck coffee. There's no complimentary breakfast but there's a restaurant on site which we didn't use. Instead, we found a very close restaurant named Tom's Diner (or something similar) that served a full menu and the prices were very good. The only negative was the shower head which didn't put out constant warm water, alternating between hot and cold instead, and the water pressure was very low.
