Description: Driven by a passion for market-inspired ingredients and classic French cooking techniques, Florent and Amelia Marneau have created a truly modern French bistro in the heart of Orange County. For decades, the couple worked separately in some of the best kitchens in France and Orange County. With Marche Moderne, they have followed this natural evolution by combining their culinary careers as independent restaurateurs. The contemporary French Bistro which has been critically acclaimed since its opening in spring of 2007, is located at The Penthouse at South Coast Plaza, level three, adjacent to Nordstrom.

“Amazing food and variety”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

We were thrilled to find this place by way of the SC Plaza concierge. I told her we missed Chat Noire, and she immediately recommended Marche. We had an amazing meal and particularly enjoyed the special choucroute. Our server was professional and extremely knowledgeable about the menu, which is roughly a mile long! We'll be back!

“Best in OC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Great food - the Coq au Vin makes me swoon. Once there, you would never know that you were in a mall, however it can carry that stigma of a mall restaurant - don't let it - it is wonderful. It can be a little noisy and some tables are close together. Great food, great service!

“Awesome French food in LA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

I was staying at the Costa Mesa Westin, and in the mood for good food. The westin has a good small restaurant, but, handy Trip Advisor recommended to take a small hike, across the pedestrian bridge, to the mall, to have dinner at Marche Moderne. It did not disappoint!
Had a great Steak Tartare, very well prepared. They stock a small, but well chosen variety of half bottles; I had the Chateau de Pez Bordeaux, which worked well for me.
Desert was also excellent

“Marche is Perfect - Consistenly Superb - Don't Try This At Home ;)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

I've been to Marche on several occasions and I am always delighted. Every meal at Marche is a delicious adventure with unique and creative combinations. You won't make this amazing food at home because there are so many ingredients - yet you want to go back again because the ingredients are so perfectly combined. Don't think the food is trendy weird - this is masterful execution of the freshest ingredients that make a meal an event to be remembered. The Prix Fixe menu is a steal - a chance to try three items at really fair pricing. You'll may struggle to choose tho :). Service is impeccable. Marche could overbook pretty much every day, but they don't - instead they take lovely care of you and the food. Thanks to Marche for being one of the very few consistently superb dining experiences in So. Cal.

“Over-rated, over-priced, lousy service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Four of us, with reservation for lunch, based on previous reviews. The wine list is short with waay over-priced California chardonnays and Cabs ( no excuse for this). Our margarita took forever, and costs over twelve dollars; so service started slow, and got worse. Our waiter Gabriel brought the entrees cold, so back they went. He then disappeared (a toke?), and we had to find the manager, who couldn't find Gabriel either. The manager served us as best she could for the rest of the meal. The braised short ribs were delicious but the vegetables were still cold. For a two hundred lunch we would have been better off at McD. We did leave Gabriel a five dollar tip so whenever he shows up again he will get the message (maybe he's quit or got fired). Make sure you tell them you don't want Gabriel as your server
