“Good value for a Priceline Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2009

Staff was courteous as one would expect from this brand.

Hotel is easy to access from the 405, about 35-40 minute drive from LAX, and minutes from SNA.

Hotel has been partially remodeled, everything but the bathrooms.

Cheesy musak was a distraction, but only because I was listening for it based upon prior reviews.

Booked on Priceline for about $65, so really you cannot complain.

Most of the clientele appeared to be younger and/or visiting Disney. Not too many business travelers, but if you want to save the company money in a decent property i would try staying here.

My only real beef if the $15 parking fee. If i had not gotten a good priceline rate I would have been upset.

I took a family vacation with a couple of my friends and their 4 yr old daughter, we booked about a month in advance and requested 2 queen beds. When we arrived there wasnt anyone to help with our luggage so we had to haul it down from the garage, where we then later called their elevator...the "elevator of doom". It was creepy and old and smell of urine. And come to find out all their elevators smelled of urine and never seemed to work properly and opened before you even reached the floor. And went to every other floor before reaching the floor that was requested. And the same weekend we stayed a bunch of loud teenagers took up the entire hotel and so we never received our 2 queen beds, but instead the agent said he "upgraded" us. It wasnt much of an upgrade and so i called the front desk and asked to moved and they said they could move us on sunday. So we put up with the room and were look forward to Sunday for the move..Well, needless to stay the call never came for us to be able to move and so we stayed. When we checked out i asked the front desk why noone called us to move and "Lorena" was her name said .. " i didnt work this weekend, so its not my fault" and said sorry. I work in the hospitality industry and this definitley not a customer service friendly hotel. Huge lack of customer service Overall it was okay, not amazing, but it was a place to sleep.

Originally, I made the mistake of using Hotwire to book a hotel in Orange County and was given a La Quinta with TripAdvisor reviews that made me uncomfortable to take children there (and which Hotwire called a 2 1/2 star). After deciding I was not going to use that booking (or Hotwire anymore), I went on Priceline and bid for this hotel, getting it for even less than the other booking! Wonderful start!

I was amazed by this hotel! After reading the reviews, I was confident it was at least a 3 star hotel, but didn't expect much more than "average". Was I wrong! The welcome is very pleasant - you walk in to brightly shining tile, a well-lit lobby with a sitting area and a fire going in the fireplace in the corner, and a very well-dressed staff at the front desk. The staff were friendly, fun to chat with, and overall made for a great experience.

We stayed in Room 212, which was awesome - it's on the rounded corner, and is as big as a decent-sized apartment. So big that we had TWO balconies! We had a living room area, a dining area, a wet bar, and a desk just in the main area - the king-sized bed was in a room adjacent to the living area, and had it's own sitting chair and armoire in there as well. The bathroom was very clean, and all linens (towels, floor mats, bedsheets, comforters) were a very bright white, which I love.

We took the kiddos (3 and 1) swimming at 9:30 in the morning because check-out was at noon and the pool was the perfect temperature, even though it wasn't very warm that morning. I noticed that there was a poolside drink and food menu posted next to the outside telephone, which I would have loved to use had we stayed longer.

We arrived late and night and left at check-out time the next morning, so we definitely didn't have enough time to hang out at this location as much as I would have liked. I will say, we will be back here for sure!

We were visiting our daughter who was performing in a Broadway show and stayed at the Wyndham for 10 days. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and honored any request we had almost immediately. We loved this hotel. Their service was exceptional! There is an outdoor pool with hot tub, beautiful grounds, coin laundry. There is a restaurant at the hotel but we didn't frequent it. There are restaurants and a huge mall just a few short blocks away. We did rent a car so we could see the sites. If we were ever to be in Orange County again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel.

Worst internet connection, at $9.95 a day, since dial-up. Very hard for those of us who do business to stay at such a hotel. Calls to front desk resulted to calls to an 800 number, a third party provider with a bad attitude. They blamed my computer, a new MacBook Pro. I travel quite a bit, stay at many hotels, and never have a problem. My colleagues, who also stayed here, experienced the same exact problem with PC laptops. Staff was confused, blaming the third party provider. Never again.

We arrived to the sound of overpowering muzak that could be heard outside the hotel. Inside there was music and several TV stations being blared into our ears all at once. At the front desk a sign informed us that the hotel restaurant would be closed from 2 PM onward all the days of our stay due to "special events" being held there. The room was dirty and gloomy, and featured cobwebs on the ceiling, wrinkled bed linens, discoloration on the showerhead, ancient bathroom tile with dirty grout, chips in the bathroom countertop, nailpolish stain on the nightstand, corrosion on the metal drain ring in te bathroom sink, rough scratchy towels that looked like thy came from a prison, stains on the carpet, chipped furniture, and stains on the ceiling and walls. We also thought having to stick our roomkey in a slot in order to activate the electricity in the room was carrying "conservaton of energy" a bit far. We felt like we were being treated like two year olds. We decided to eat in the lounge (since we couldn't use the dining room and the room service menu was outrageous in price), where we were told we could get anything on the restaurant menu. My steak sandwich arrived so loaded with salt that it was inedible. It had to be sent back to the kitchen twice. My friend's salmon was dry and the portion was miniscule. We never did figure out what the bread plates were for since no bread was ever served. They did comp us breakfast the next morning because we were so disgusted with the hotel. The breakfast buffet was about average, and featured potatoes that tasted like they had been cooked in oil that hadn't been changed since the Hoover administration. When we went to check out (after only one night instead of staying the entire time we had planned), we were informed that we were very lucky that they had decided not to charge us for the the entire stay that we had reserved, rahter than the one night that we had actually stayed there. We had never heard of charging anyone for leaving early as long as they checked out before checkout time. When we went to get our car, we had to go up to the roof of the parking structure in the cold and rain to get the car, We'd had to park way up on top out in the open because when we parked the car the previous day, all of the spaces inside the structure had already gone to the people who were attending the special event that had closed down the restaurant. We noted that this hotel takes pets. I wouldn't even recommend this place to a dog.

The Wyndham was nice.

Nice lobby with little bar area and fireplace.

We booked this hotel because they are pet friendly and don't charge any fees, which was great.

They gave us a ground floor room with the back doors leading out to a grassy area, perfect for us!

The room was slightly more outdated than I expected, but nothing to complain about.

Restaurants within walking distance (Savannah's, Mastro's, Pinot Provence, Corner Office Sports Bar, Scotts Seafood, Pizzeria Ostica, TGIF's, Quiznos, Starburcks) and of course South Coast Plaza is a block down and across the street.

Wireless internet was charged by day from 12-12, so the first night we got in late and needed it, we had to pay only to have access unitl noon the next day, ugh!

Also parking is $15\day. I would park next door in the shopping center parking lot, with Corner Office (mostly empty no worries about being towed).
