“The hotel had it all, simply sublime!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2009

My room with king bed was BIG and so comfortable. Two chairs, large (very) desk area, flat screen tv and the "heavenly bed" is just that! The in-room coffee is delicious (Starbucks) with convenient to go cups- they think of EVERYTHING. I like how green conscience the hotel is letting you choose not to have linens and towels changed everyday.

The pool area is beautiful and the workout room has plenty of everything- bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and stair climbers. Also has weight machines and free weights.

Nothing but high praise for the friendly staff.

This 'hotel' is very conducive for anything business - meetings, interviews, networking.
Rooms are tastefully done in dark wood...bathrooms are exceptionally clean,
altho, small. Garage is a separate entity, within walking distance ($20 a nite).
Internet also costs extra. No free breakfasts or happy hour..
Location is VERY near freeways and shopping center....
great for couples/friends who are shopping or anyone conducting business...
I would suggest families with kids/pets to look elsewhere where there is MORE
PROPERTY to roam around. This place is a high-rise HOTEL with elevators,
and people here are in business suits, not bathing suits.

Just finished a stay at this hotel and could not have had a better experience. The staff at check in were friendly and extreamly accomodating with some awkward requests-- not once was there any hessitation, it was all taken care of immediately.

Had a great view on an upper floor with views of the Disneyland fireworks during my stay-- great way to relax a couple evenings sipping some wine and watching the fireworks after a long day of being out and about.

Valet was quick and effcient and a bargain compared to recent stays in SanFran and in LA propper (50/night in San Fran, 45/night in LA).. so at 28 has no trouble with that cost (had surveyed the hotels in the area when deciding and discovered all were at this price anyways... must be an 'oc thing'?)

I will definately be back to this hotel-- I love Westins and their heavenly showers and beds and was not dissapointed in the slightest.

My only regret was not taking photos of the hotel..but, hey, thats what the internet is for right?

This was our second year at the Westin South Coast Plaza for the 4th of July weekend. And the second year we brought our 2 Shiz Tzus with us.

The hotel is perfect and sits within walking distance to the South Coast Plaza (Gucci, Vuitton, Apple) and great restaurants like Scott's, Mastros and others.

The hotel even provides plush Heavenly Beds for the dogs and the room was spacious and well appointed.

The pool is on a rooftop and has pleanty of chairs and chaises. Staff it friendly and accommodating and is "classic" Westin.

We rate this location a 10!

I should ad that even though the hotel is Pet Friendly, you NEVER smell anything "bad". This is a very well-maintained property.

Average hotel. Limited bathroom supplies, nice shower, nice rooms. Very limited night menu. Internet is not available unless you pay 11.95 per day, Even business center charges 5 dollars for each ten minutes of internet use. In this day and age when even a cheap motel offers free internet, an expensive hotel like Westin essentially blocking you out of internet unless you pay 11.95 per day is outrageously expensive. Internet used to be a luxury. Now it is a neccessity.

I stayed here for 1 night using Starwood's C&P program. As a Platinum, I did not get any discernible upgrade. Like most US Westins, there was no Club Lounge. The lobby and bar areas were quite clean and inviting.

The room itself was showing it's age. I had been here back in 2003 and it was pretty good back then. However, there were large chips off the furniture. The size of the room was decent but the bathroom was looking pretty old. There was the standard LCD TV and high-speed internet connection. The room was using one of those dreaded motion-sensor air-conditioners. The air-conditioner itself probably needs replacing. I had set the temp to 70F but was still super hot after a few hours. I put my hand up to the vents and it was blowing hot air!! For my solution, I set it to 65F and it seemed to keep it cool all night. No idea if the motion-sensor kicked in but you might be able to Google a work-around.

The entire feeling I had was that the hotel was in dire straits. There was a letter on the desk advising room service was shut down for most of the day. The invoice print-out was on standard white paper, no letterhead. Talking with the valets led me to believe there weren't a lot of guests.

Of course, my main reason for staying here was because it was right beside South Coast Plaza. I had just finished 3 days at Disney and needed more adult things to do. Lots of high end shops but lots of great deals too.

Would I stay here again? Probably, because of the location. I'm not aware of any other major hotels right beside the mall. However, it is a shell of the hotel that I remembered.

Tips:
The valet offers a free and unadvertised shuttle service. If you need to get anywhere in the vicinity, try asking them and they can probably do it.

I don't really have much to say about this Westin but.......

The lobby, bedroom and overall property was on par with any typical Starwood hotel.

Unfortunately, that level of quality did not make it into the bathroom. Yes this is an older property and it is evident that, though there was a recent renovation, they did not spend the money where it really matters, the bathroom.

I would suggest you stay in a newer property in the area and I would never recommend this Westin to anyone.
