We had planned to stay at the Holiday Inn across from the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa but our reservations were lost and we were directed to th Ayres Hotel Suites. The Junior Suite was on the 4th floor of the adjacent building and it was a very nice, spacious room. Note that it is in the flight pattern of the Orange County Airport but there are no flights from 10pm to 7am. The Hotel breakfast is very good and can be had either in the first floor of the adjacent wing of the hotel where our room was or in the courtyard of the main building of the hotel; we chose the courtyard as the weather was perfect and the courtyard is very pleasant. We also had a delicious dinner in the courtyard at a very moderate price. We would stay there again.

We stayed At the Ayres Hotel and suites for 1 night while passing through this area. This is a very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend this hotel to families or business travelers. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. We had breakfast the following morning and it was very good and staff was great. Parking is free.
Even though it is near the airport we didn't notice the noise. It must be insulated well. The airport must have shut down at night because I didn't hear anything during the night.

This is a well run facility.

On a trip to LA to do some college tours, I needed a decent room for my 2 teenage daughters and myself. I did my research on betterbidding and then chose this hotel on hotwire. I got a fantastic rate = $98.84 incuding tax. Since this included hot breakfast for 3 and a free drink in the evening, it was certainly a steal. I imagine people are afraid to stay here because it's right by the airport (which I didn't know until driving up). However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't notice the noise from even 1 plane during our stay! Amazing engineering :)

The room was spacious, the courtyard and furnishings throughout the hotel felt very luxurious (like a European boutique), and most importantly, the beds were amazingly comfortable with mattress toppers and down comforters. My daughters and I loved our room and wished we could've stayed there longer or had one just like it for the nights we stayed in Morro Bay on the same trip.

As other reviewers have noted, the breakfast buffet was excellent. Eggs AND several toppings that could be mixed in for a "scramble," pancakes, bacon, sausage, yogurt, cereal, old fashioned oatmeal, several juices, pastries AND it's in their restaurant, not a tiny "room" turned into the breakfast spot.

The only drawback is that there really isn't anything in walking distance. However, in SoCal everyone drives anyway! Just a few minutes away is a mall, the shore and downtown Long Beach, Disneyland, etc. We'll definitely be back!

Just stayed here for 4 days while near L.A. for business and it was an excellent hotel. Even though the hotel was close the the airport the planes didn't really start until 6-7 in the morning and I never heard them in the early evening. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and I have to say that the beds were the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. It was funny that when I got home I was thinking that I wasn't looking forward to getting into my own bed as I would much rather sleep in the one at the hotel!! The "European-inspired" look of the hotel was cute and not too over done and the courtyard in the middle was very nice to sit and relax in. I would stay here again on business but it was a little far from the action if I were to go for a holiday ( if you don't mind driving to get to the shopping and touristy stuff then it was a very nice, clean and safe area around the hotel).

Two nights at the Ayres. I have stayed in several of their properties and this one is one of the nicer I have been in.
I had a room on the west side of the out-building and never heard a plane for which I was pleasantly surprised. The room was large, the furnishings extremely rich (too much for my taste, but I do not own it) and very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, a big deal with me, and there was a fridge and microwave.
The breakfast is a real breakfast with real eggs, not the gross frozen re-heated kind, bacon, potatoes, cereals, toast etc.

There is free wi-fi in the lobby only, the internet access in the rooms has a 2 foot cable and costs about $9/day. That always annoys me!! I luckily carry a 10 foot cable so at least I could see the TV and work on my laptop. Charging for internet is such an annoyance to me, it isnt even my money but if you are going to run a nice hotel internet should be free, even the dicey comfort inn I stayed in last year had free wi-fi in the rooms for crying out loud.

The staff I came into contact with was friendly, Andrew at the front desk was very friendly and conversational, he handled my two annoyances so well I couldnt even be mad afterwards (although the charge for cabled internet in the rooms will prevent me from returning he understood my point of view and handled my comments well) The second complaint was being locked in an elevator for about ten minutes, it closed on me and then wouldnt move or let me out. I told him of the situation and there was an 'out of order' sign on it when I returned. The next day it was fixed. Luckily there were two elevators since I was on the third floor.

All in all I can recomend this hotel to anyone and have a clear consience. My pet peeve about the charge for internet is kind of silly, but it is just as easy to find a place that doesnt charge. So I probably wouldnt come back unless I couldnt find a decent place in the area, but there are several so those chances are slim... None of the other Ayres properties I have been in charge so it is confusing why this one does...
