“A satisfactory experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Good food local to our hotel, the convenience of being a part of South Coast Plaza meant we could do an evening of shopping, followed by dinner and head back to the hotel.
The people I was with said their food was great, the ribs that I had we're exceptional.
We will return!

“Good for a chain restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Normally me and my husband don't pick to eat at chain restaurants because we just don't think the food is good enough for the money. We did eat at this Claim Jumper because we were in the area and had a gift certificate. Surprisingly this Claim Jumper exceeded our expectation. Hands down the best one we have ever been to. The service was okay but the food was actually fresher than other locations and we can actually say very satisfying. The mozzarella sticks and cheese bread were fresh and delicious. Both our hamburgers were juicy and very tasty. Although we do not eat at chain restaurants a lot one good thing Claim Jumper has at every location is there tortilla soup with garlic cheese bread. We like to get this when we are sick and don't feel like cooking.

“Predictable food for the unadventerous palate and untrained staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

While at the South Coast Plaza (huge mall in Costa Mesa), we stopped in at the Claim Jumper for dinner. It took about 10 minutes for a waiter to greet us after we were seated. We decided on a steak theme, with my daughter ordering the top sirloin and a green salad, and I the steak salad. As we waited for my daughter's salad to be served before our entrees, on three separate occasions, food runners approached us laden with plates of food asking questions like "did you order the tortilla soup?" Do the waitstaff not know how to associate food orders with table numbers? This was a vast restaurant; I can only imagine every group of diners was approached asking what had been ordered.

The waiter forgot my daughter's green salad (he even forgot to ask what salad dressing she wanted). There were no green beans on my steak salad, despite the menu description. When the waiter cleared the table, he literally stacked one dirty dish on top of another right on the table in front of us.

But I will say the service was good-natured, if nothing else. And the food, although pretty standard fare, probably suits the average American palate.

“Average take-out experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Odd that the take-out menu has no prices. Took longer than they said to prepare a salad with grilled salmon. They forgot the blue cheese on the side. Very friendly folk, wanting to do the right thing.

“Order up, Move 'em out”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

It seemed a bit like a slightly upmarket burger joint. We were pressed to order, and when we did, were told that the kitchen was busy so we may have to wait.

As it was the the second course arrived halfway through our first.

The food was just average, and we wouldn't go there again.
