“Nice location, nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

I was looking for a decently priced hotel near Sausalito, and was pleasantly surprised with this hotel due to the price paid.

The rooms are suites and have nicely appointed kitchens. It's also close to a shopping center to buy provisions. The grounds of the hotel are nice, and the jewel of the site is the interior courtyard where the pool and jacuzzi are found. In fact, you're right next to Highway 101, but can barely tell that there's traffic. A cinema is right next door if one would like to take in a movie.

The suite itself was stylish and comfortable. The bed was a bit on the smallish side, but that was the only defect found. The breakfast was nice, with plenty of options. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I'd stay here in a heartbeat again. The only reason for the 4 -star rating is due to the size of the bed.

stayed here for 2 nights on way from SF to Reno - had booked one bed apt got upgraded to two room - had nice sitting area with kitchen space - good location just off the highway no noticeable road noise and we were in a room at the back - ask for a top floor room as you can hear the footsteps above easily. the pool / hot tub / garden areas are fantastic with a lovely sitting area in the middle - this place also has a laundry room which is great! breakfast was good waffles, yogurts, juice, pastries etc great start to the day. room was dark but was clean and well presented.

Room Tip: had room at back looking onto busy road - very little noise would expect rooms over pool/central are...

We were surprised by no a/c. We are low maintenance, don't have a/c at home since we live in mountains but felt a/c was necessary here. Room was quite hot and stuffy when we arrived. Called desk and were told there was a swamp cooler in the closet and fans. Swamp cooler needs to be filled with water and you had to use coffee pot to fill once you figured it out, which was some 20 times to fill the water reservoir. Initial temperature on swamp cooler was 79 and by morning with swamp cooler running all night was 72. Thankfully we were on third floor so we were able to keep windows open but no a/c was significant disappointment but we aren't going to rate room "poor" despite that. Room was generous size & location was good to get north of SF for visit to Muir Woods. Loud doors, no hair dryer, breakfast average, people were smoking on a common walkway balcony even though it said no smoking, plantings in courtyard were beautiful.

We felt that is was a great location and a good value for your money. We will stay there again on our next trip. Yes, the doors closing are noisy and you can tell some corners were cut, but we were not there to buy the place (lol). The beds were very comfortable and that's what we look for and need in a hotel. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. We stayed in the building furthest from the interstate to cut some of the noise.

It would help a lot if something were installed on the doors to keep them from slamming shut.

Room Tip: Choose one near the elevator and the furthest away from the interstate

Overall stay was very good. Excellent location. The bad part, they have a tight parking lot and they could change the breakfast with full menu. However the rooms comes with full kitchen so you can create your own!

We are travelling with 2 little kids and it's essential for us to have a suite with a kitchenette and a pool. This hotel met all of our expectations. It almost looks like this building used to be an apartment building converted into hotel. The room was a true one bedroom apartment suite with a full kitchen. In fact, it looked almost identical to my rental apartment in LA, lol. The kitchen was well equiped with all the pots/pens/glasses/plates etc.
The room was definetely remodeled: nice color schemes, plush furniture, tv etc.
Our room was very quiet (suite 136) and was overlooking to the mountains/lagoon.

The bedroom was comfortable with a huge closet space. ))

The bathroom is very big, but the general pipe system is rather old: the water pressure goes up and down, particularly if someone is flushing the toilet - the water temperature changes instantly. The towels are plush, white and fluffy.

The pool, though not as big as it shows on a picture, is excellent: salt water pool, heated. Jacuzzi is great. They even provide lemonade and coke(?) in the jars by the pool - a very nice touch.

The general appearance of the room and pool - everything is extremely clean.
There is a nice area by the pool where you can seat by the candlelight/fireplace.

Now the bad:
no A/C. That did not bother us at all, since our apartment windows faced the opposite sides, creating a nice draft, and it was not hot outside at all.

Breakfast - meh, your regular cereal/yougurt/waffles. Waffles were really of bad quality. Fruit salad was horrible: imagine old unripe fruits that already started to get sour. Bueh. I mean, you really have to go out of your way to find fruits that bad in California. So, we kinda dicided to stick with bagels/yougurt/fresh bananas and apples. Coffee (Seattle's Best) was excellent. Boiled eggs were nice addition to all-carb breakfast.
Again, I did not care that much for breakfast, since we had a full kitchen.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again if I travel with kids.

The service was fast and excellent too: we needed a plunger on one occasion - the guy showed up at our door within seconds after calling the front desk. Same when we needed an extra towel. Great customer service too.

Well-located, this place is also horribly out of date: no AC in a town that gets hot, shabby furniture in the rooms, either noise from traffic or the pool. Maybe good for a large family with the kitchenette, etc., but not a nice place to stay otherwise.

Thank you for promoting how well-located we are for the Bay Area. We respect your opinion regarding the building being older as it was built in the early sixties. Regarding the furniture all has been replaced and updated in the last year. We do not promote air conditioning, but provide each room with a fan and a evaporative cooler to make your room more comfortable.

We apologize that we did not meet up to your expectations. We will continue to work on the hotel to improve the structure and the features. We do appreciate your support that we are a destination for families, sport teams and wedding groups. We are also popular with the corporate traveler.
