“Great Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

This is a great place to stay for location and especially if there is more than one person.
Two friends and I travel to the Bay Area during the year for business or pleasure in San Francisco and Mill Valley.
The Marin Suites is perfectly located to zip into San Francisco for meetings, or shopping and dinner.
The 2 bedroom suite is perfect for 3 or 4 as one of the bedrooms has 2 queen beds. There is living room with fold out couch - not very comfortable but fine for kids. The kitchen and dining table make it so easy.
With regular sized fridge, stove, coffee maker, etc.works for breakfast, lunch and dinner or storing leftovers and appetizers if so inclined.
The restaurant right next door is amazing - great bar and top rated food. In that same little area is a high level bookstore with great activities.
Wonderful shopping center is within walking distance and just 7 minutes away over the freeway is another small but great shopping center with Macy's, etc.
We always have the upstairs rooms that aren't backed onto the freeway so very quiet.
The pool area is nice, and a separate lawn area away from the pool if you want to relax outside in a more quiet environment. Breakfast is okay. I agree with the other comments that the breakfast room could be cleaned more often but I think it is due to not enough staff and not a reflection on the people trying to keep it clean after lots of children and adults use the room in the morning.
Rugs have been replaced, rooms painted so really feels and looks cleaner.

Room Tip: Away from the freeway and not the end room where window opens on stairs as can be noisy early in am...

Our overall experience was OK, however the following let the hotel down;
Booking was done via email directly with the hotel as we were part of a wedding group staying there. Initial response was slow, then a few weeks prior to our stay I emailed for confirmation that they had our booking and all was OK. No response. When we checked in we'd been allocated a 2 bedroom suite (I only booked a studio $150pn) but was made to pay the suite rates (over $200pn) even though I hadn't booked that type of room.
The rooms themselves were clean, with new carpets, but the furniture was old (I actually think they were in the process of updating furniture in rooms while we were there). The bathrooms were old but well stocked with towels.
There was no airconditioning so the rooms were very hot.
Breakfast was continental only which was OK, however the room was cramped and tables not cleaned during the busy breakfast period, and bread/milk not restocked.
Proximity to local shopping was excellent and in a good location for the wedding activities.

Room Tip: The rooms right at the back of the hotel are right next to the highway.

With free parking and a lovely complimentary breakfast that included healthy foods like yogurt and fruits, this was a good deal. My husband enjoyed the pool; the courtyard is lush. It is an older hotel, and a bit worn, but new curtains, furniture, and mattresses were being installed during our stay and will be a big improvement. Internet worked well. Staff was friendly and hardworking. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of a beautiful upscale shopping center (Madera Towne Center) and grocery store, and has easy access to Highway 101.

All the information provided prior to the stay seems great. However, upon arriving and going to our room, the following items left a lot to be desired. No air conditioning...fans were provided but were very inadequate. Furniture in room was very old. There were two separate bedrooms and also a kitchenette. Given the high price of over $150.00 per night, we then understood the high cost, but it was not advertised that way. There were a lot of elderly people staying there who apparently go there each year. Maybe it is a time share, but we were not informed of that during out investigating. The "apartment" was spacious, but old. Living room carpet and couch appeared not to have been cleaned in quite some time. I would not recommend it.

Room Tip: Contact the hotel directly to inquire about the type of room you are getting and ensure you get what...

The wifi upgrade is awesome. All the rooms are freshly painted and have new carpet. They were putting in new drapes while we were there. Staff is very friendly. We stay there every time we have doctor appointments in San Francisco.

We have booked our second trip to Corte Madera at the Marin Suites Hotel to spend Thanksgiving with our children who live about 7 minutes away. Our room was spacious, comfortable and perfect for the little time we actually spend in the room. The cost to value was very good and we will always book here when we go to visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway. In fact, I need to do that before we go this time.

We stayed two nights. Beds very comfortable. Our son had the sleep sofa & said it was also comfortable. Kitchen with stove, microwave & large refrigerator. No dishwasher, dish soap available to wash dishes (staff is not allowed to do this). Great find for the cost. Very close to Sausalito & Muir Woods. Grocery close by.

Room Tip: First floor rooms located closest to the pool
