“Great Choice, Lots of options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

We stayed here as a family and found it a great option for staying in Marin. First of all it is central, so equal distance to San Rafael as Sausalito, as well as a quite easy to get into SF.
What is great about it is that there is a ton for kids (and adults). you can play shuffle board, basketball, swim, lounge in hammocks or use a putting green!
They also include a decent breakfast as well as are walking distance to a half dozed restaurant options if you crave something else.
If there is a downside, it is that it is just off of the 101 Highway, so there is a bit of road noise when you walk around - not in the rooms. The price is very reasonable and makes for a good place to camp out with the family.

Good location for a trip into San Francisco, about 20 minutes.
Free parking which was a big plus for us compared to expensive hotel parking cost in San Francisco. Wifi and breakfast basket complimentary ( starbucks coffee, muffins, yogurt and fruit) delivered to your room. Good sized room with comfortable beds and great shower.
Great shops and food just across the street.

Room was comfortable: wi-fi, desk, roomy, nice artwork and clean. Bed was so-so for a person with a bad back. Grounds are well kept.
They even shuttle you to the Larkspur Ferry and pick you up upon your return.
Would stay here again if we ever get back.
The small minor thing we didn't like is we didn't know you have to notify front desk by a certain time to get continental breakfast the next day. We saw that on a brochure in the room after the deadline. As they had great customer service I imagine they would have accomnodated us if we had called late.

We just returned from a 3 day trip to San Francisco. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. They provided a shuttle to the ferry, even allowing us to use our infants car seat....and brought it back for us when picking us back up that evening. They allowed us to use their freezer to store our sons milk, as the rooms do not have freezers....and it was defrosting in our cooler. The beds were super comfy, and the room was clean and welcoming. Had problems logging onto the internet the first night, but after that no problems at all. TV reception is fuzzy. Breakfast brought to your room is yummy, and is plenty to start your day with (muffins, yogurt, granola, fresh cut fruit, and OJ). Being there several days though....it would be nice to see some variety in breakfast from day to day. Change it up a bit :)
As a family traveling on a budget, $150 a night is a bit steep, but the room was worth it.

Room Tip: We stayed in a back corner, and our rooms were quiet.

Let me say this. The beds are great. The continental breakfast they bring you to your room is really nice. The muffins yummy and they have Starbucks Coffee and a free newspaper.
Oh and I forgot.. Free fast Internet!!
There is a ferry you can take to SF for $8.75 spend the day and take the street car (get a day pass) There is free parking.
I loved this place. Nice and quiet and a shopping center across the street.
There is a great restaurant called Max's ?? in the parking lot. OMG great food.
My sister and I had a wonderful visit and a great stay at this place. I would go back in a heartbeat!!

Stayed here in July 2011. We had 2 nights in downtown San Fran and one night here. You could use this as a great base for visiting San Francisco.

We checked in and headed for the pool. It's a large pool for a hotel (I think it's 25 yards long). The area around the pool is really nice. Lots of deck chairs, sun and shade. There is a ping pong table, shuffleboard, mini golf (just a small basic course), water basketball and a court, a playground, 2 hot tubs. We completely enjoyed the pool and all the games with our two kids. It was nice after being in a downtown hotel with an indoor pool.

The room: when I checked in, they were very nice. When they gave me the keys and a map to show where our room was, I could tell right away it was backing up to the freeway (101) and I was concerned about noise. She said they had no more double queen rooms (i question this as it didn't seem full when we were observing the hotel and pool). We went ahead and took the room. It was actually pretty quiet. There were double windows and sliding doors in the room which blocked out almost all of the noise and what didn't get blocked became white noise. The room itself was very cosy. It's got a few small maintenance issues which don't really affect your stay but could easily be fixed. Chipped paint in the bathroom etc. In our room in the morning, there were 3 spiders in the tub. I realize there is a lot of greenery around this hotel which makes it very nice so that I can overlook. I do think they need to touch up some of the chipped paint around the hotel though. The a/c in the room was a bit of an issue. It works but it blew very cold right at both beds so we had to keep turning it on and off to avoid freezing!

The breakfast basket was nice. You tell them when to deliver it. On the flyer in the room, it says "Gratuity is NOT included" ("NOT" was in capital letters). Then, when you call to tell them when you'd like it, the recording says "Gratuities are appreciated". This bothered me. If you are offering an extra perk to attract guests, don't beg for tips. A tip is something that should be freely given if the GIVER feels it is warranted. I just thought it was a little on the tacky side to be pushing the tips. I don't like to be told when to tip, even in an indirect roundabout way :)

We are so pleased that you and your family enjoyed our facilities and your stay with us recently! We really appreciate the nice comments about our pool and our other out of doors activities. We also want to extend our apologies for the short comings you mentioned and will definitely work to make improvements where ever possible . Thank you. Bill Blackburn, General Manager

We seem to always enjoy and have good experiences at Best Western and we wanted to be north of San Fran, so we picked Corte Madera. We had an executive king room and it was very comfortable. The bed was great and the room was large. We just loved the breakfast basket in the morning and wish more hotels would do this so we could always have breakfast in the room! Even the coffee was good! We ate dinner at the restaurant on the premises and it was good. So, as usual, Best Western, can't be beat for the price and the value. Also, we had to cancel one night on the wknd, and they were very cooperative and helpful, allowing us to stay for just Sat night. We would definitely recommend this convenient place to stay outside of SF. Don't miss the shuttle to Muir Woods. What a beautiful hidden oasis!
