“Good hotel but quiet in December”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

We visited in mid December and some of the hotel was closed and they were working on the pools. The cafe is great for snacks and lite lunches. Hotel Shuttle was excellent and the staff very good. Probably better in the summer. Good location and prefer this to downtown venue.

Loew's Coronado is a bit away from the main part of the island but only a five minute drive from the busier Orange Ave shops and restaurant. I would have enjoyed it more if I was spending more time at the pool area (it was cold and rainy that weekend) which is nice. The lobby leads out to the bar and pool with fire pits which was a nice place to have drinks. The food was mediocre. The service at the bar was very good but I wish I could say the same for the front desk.

Our room was nice but nothing special for a Loews. It reminded me of any old family beach hotel room. The space in the room could have been used more effectively - a small couch or love seat would fit nicely.

They charged $25 per night for self parking and they charged for every little item. Internet was $14 and you got the feeling they were nickel and dime-ing you wherever they could.

Enjoyed Hotel Del Coronado and the Coronado Marriott Resort much better.

Room Tip: upgrade to a room with a good view

There are no words except perfect to describe this hotel. Enjoyed a relaxing weekend with my husband, the check in process was fast the front desk was pleasant and polite. The room was PERFECT!!! It was romantic. The huge tub and walk in shower. Larger and comfortable bed. Great pool with the swim up bar. Pricing is a bit high but well worth every cent!!!

This large property in the middle of Coronado Island is a 15-minute drive from the more interesting parts of Coronado Island, and from either good shopping or restaurants. Both service and food onsite were mediocre.

But the views across the Bay are fabulous. And although the rooms may have seen better days, they are large and bright. Most seem to have at least a partial view across that magnificent bay.

It is a good spot for a convention or meetings so long as you have a rental car. If not, consider staying closer to the charming town of Coronado up the road. You may not have as good a view, but there is a lot more to do there.

What a great place to enjoy Southern California. You are five minutes from the town of Coronado without the parking hassles.

Loved the bar into the lobby. ESPN on the monster screen playing 24 hours.

Good sized rooms but one star taken away for so so cleaning. The rooms were clean, but not spotless.

Big, well equipped bathrooms. Flat screen TVs. A desk for work and I think every room would have at least a partial view of the water.

Very nice overall. A place that I would happily return to.

Great Hotel for its views, friendliness of the staff. I must appreciated the staff for their smiley faces and friendly nature. I think the employees here are really happy. They always made our day during our Week long stay. The Beach is right across the street. But they do Provide Golf cart transportation which is nice on the Hotel's part.
O. K the Good stops here. It is a Pet friendly Hotel. I did not think twice about this . Nor did I expect so many Dog owners here. I am a Dog lover but just not comfortable in seeing Big Dogs walking around in the Hotel . The Hotel has Great views from the lobby. But we could not enjoy it for two reasons : 1 ) There is bar right in front of the Lobby. Even though it is a non smoking Hotel, People smoke in the Bar freely. So not so family friendly especially with kids. Who would want to take kids thru a bar anyway. 2 ) In the morning you have all these people with the Dogs in the lobby. A dog almost came too close for comfort .
Yes for the Price in California Hotel I guess it is alright. Pool area is not clean unless you go early in the AM. Rooms are dated and Old. Shower I must say was interesting. Bath Tub is nice. But shower, Once you enter You will not have room to move around. It was annoying and funny. To me it felt like a little better version of Holiday Inn with friendly staff.

If you want to get away from the crowds in San Diego Etc. This is the place. Close to the silver strand beaches, right on San Diego Bay, great views of the City and mountains..The rooms are modern with a balcony where two people can have breakfast in comfort or a drink in the late afternoon to watch the sunset. We stayed here in the Autumn when it gets chilly but the lobby bar has a large fireplace and fire warmers so you can sit outside. The Mistral restaurant also has a view and excellent food. The pool area is vast with several pools and a snack bar. The Marina has boats for rent and we took a gondola ride around Coronado Cays. Be sure to ask for a room on an upper floor with a view of the City.
