“Excellent Hotel! Great w/ Kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Coronado is an amazing place and Glorietta Bay Inn is an amazing hotel! We really enjoyed our stay. Our check in was smooth and we were offered ginger snaps and lemonade as they organized our details and got our keys ready. The grounds are beautiful. There's lush lanscaping and even huge tropical trees towering over the secluded courtyards. The location of the hotel is convenient to everything. It's a short walk across the street to the beach. It's also directly across from the Hotel Del Coronado, which is rich with history and worth a visit as well. We opted for the junior suite and we were presently suprised by how huge it was. Our room, in reality was a one bedroom apartment. There were two bathrooms, a huge living area with a pull out couch and a small kitchenette. It was really impressive. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was always courteous and helpful. They even provide beach toys and chairs to their guests! I would return here in a heartbeat! This place totally deserves it's TA certificate if excellence.

Room Tip: Room 505 is a huge junior suite! Worth every penny.

The Glorietta Bay Inn Manor is steeped in history & the rooms in the Manor itself look to be delightful. Our 1 bed deluxe room was located on the 2nd floor of one of the motel type extensions. We had a balcony that overlooked the parking lot & pool. The room was so small that only one person at a time could walk between the queen size bed & dresser. The bathroom only had a small shower. The refrigerator, magnifying mirror & room safe were appreciated. The room & bathroom needed to be updated and thoroughly cleaned. We're not sure what came out of the wall air conditioner located high on the wall but it left black particles on the desk & chair below. So we weren't thrilled with our room. However, the staff were just delightful and welcoming. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and was delicious. You could eat in the music room or outside on the manor balcony. In the afternoon cookies and refreshments were available in the manor. Beach chairs, towels, etc were available at no charge. The Inn has a great location across from The Dell. You can walk just about anywhere in town and to the beach. There is a $10/nite parking fee. A few days each week a 90 minute walking tour leaves from the music room. The tour describes the history of the area and walks through The Dell and around town. Our tour was excellent.

I have been visiting Glorietta Bay Inn for years and the one thing that I always notice (and appreciate) is how friendly the staff is. Every employee from the front desk, to the housekeepers, to the groundskeepers all say, "HI!" or "Good morning!" They really make you feel like family and go out of their way to help you feel at home. We forgot our Toy Story 3 dvd in the player (which is of course a tragedy for our twins) and the front desk sprung into action. They found the disc and promptly put it in the mail. The continental breakfast is great (don't expect an omelette chef)... the coffee is always hot and the bagels, pastries, fruit, and cereals are always fresh. Of course you have to love the lemonade and cookies every afternoon! The rooms are very clean and the A/C is nice and cold. My only concern is the lack of sufficient parking for the hotel, but parking is limited everywhere on the island, so it's really not that big of a deal. All in all, we are customers for life.

Room Tip: The suites are worth the extra money to have a kitchen... upper floors facing the front parking lot...

I live about an hour from San Diego and decided at the last min to spend a weekend at the beach. Booking a room on the web site was a breeze and when I arrived at the hotel, everyone was very friendly, warm and knew who I was, where I came from and how I got there.
Pros:
- Everyone that worked at the hotel was cheerful and friendly.
- They called me on my phone when my room was ready.
- The location is fantastic. It looks over the marina. It's across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado and a block from where the downtown starts. Park your car and walk everywhere you want to go on Coronado Island.
- In room safe, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer. TV had a decent channel line up.
- You can borrow beach chairs to take to the beach.
- Breakfast had a nice variety.
- Lemonade and cookies in the afternoon.
- The bed was comfortable. There were convenient extra outlets for your mobile devices.
Cons:
- Parking is tight. It's not expensive but it's not guaranteed either.

I really enjoyed my stay and would do it again.

Room Tip: My room was pretty small. It didn't matter to me but if you care, ask about room size when book...

One never thinks of hotels in America that are B&B's. This hotel provided a Continental breakfast which was sufficient, the staff very helpful. My thanks to Mrs Hopkins, she is very professional. Other names I like to mention is Mrs. G. Kirkhead and Mr. M. Murrell. Thank you all for your help.
The location is opposite a marina, not too far from the beach and one can get free towels and small beach chairs. There was also free cookies, coffee and lemonade, what a sweet touch.
The location is beautiful and one can take long walks along the beach, hire bikes, take the trolley, sit at the many restaurants, cafe's.
Also not too far from all the attractions. What an incredible place. Our hotel room had a small balcony and it is nice just to relax outside your room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, which is on the first floor. If possible, a room with a view of the m...

This 100 year-old converted mansion is a great place to cal home while on Coronado Island!

It's very conveniently located, near the beach, the public golf course, the public tennis courts (play in the morning before 8 AM when the staff arrives, and it's free!). It's adjacent to Orange Blvd where the shopping is.

The staff is the most hospitable that we've experienced, anywhere.

Our room was clean and well-appointed, with a microwave and fridge, plus free wi-fi. It was rather small, however, with only one chair at the small table, and a smallish bathroom, shower only, that required some twisting while exiting, due to the proximity of the door to the toilet.

The pool area looked pleasant, though we didn't take advantage of it.

The complimentary cold breakfast offered a good variety of vittles, including hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt (light and regular), juice and excellent coffee.

The front desk provides complimentary beach chairs and towels for a beach visit, about 3 blocks away.

Did I mention the hospitable staff?

All in all, a most enjoyable experience.

We had an excfellent few days here. The position of the hotel is splendid and close to the water, shops and restaurants. There is a pleasant pool area. The reception staff are unfailingly friendly and professional; breakfast is good and it is a treat to be able to sit outside. Our room was convenient and well sized as was the bathroom. It is odd that the wardrobe space is in there too. There is limited drawer space if you are staying for a few nights. I would recommend this hotel very highly indeed.
