“What an amazing B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

One never thinks of hotels in America that are B&B's. This hotel provided a Continental breakfast which was sufficient, the staff very helpful. My thanks to Mrs Hopkins, she is very professional. Other names I like to mention is Mrs. G. Kirkhead and Mr. M. Murrell. Thank you all for your help.
The location is opposite a marina, not too far from the beach and one can get free towels and small beach chairs. There was also free cookies, coffee and lemonade, what a sweet touch.
The location is beautiful and one can take long walks along the beach, hire bikes, take the trolley, sit at the many restaurants, cafe's.
Also not too far from all the attractions. What an incredible place. Our hotel room had a small balcony and it is nice just to relax outside your room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, which is on the first floor. If possible, a room with a view of the m...

This 100 year-old converted mansion is a great place to cal home while on Coronado Island!

It's very conveniently located, near the beach, the public golf course, the public tennis courts (play in the morning before 8 AM when the staff arrives, and it's free!). It's adjacent to Orange Blvd where the shopping is.

The staff is the most hospitable that we've experienced, anywhere.

Our room was clean and well-appointed, with a microwave and fridge, plus free wi-fi. It was rather small, however, with only one chair at the small table, and a smallish bathroom, shower only, that required some twisting while exiting, due to the proximity of the door to the toilet.

The pool area looked pleasant, though we didn't take advantage of it.

The complimentary cold breakfast offered a good variety of vittles, including hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt (light and regular), juice and excellent coffee.

The front desk provides complimentary beach chairs and towels for a beach visit, about 3 blocks away.

Did I mention the hospitable staff?

All in all, a most enjoyable experience.

We had an excfellent few days here. The position of the hotel is splendid and close to the water, shops and restaurants. There is a pleasant pool area. The reception staff are unfailingly friendly and professional; breakfast is good and it is a treat to be able to sit outside. Our room was convenient and well sized as was the bathroom. It is odd that the wardrobe space is in there too. There is limited drawer space if you are staying for a few nights. I would recommend this hotel very highly indeed.

We had an amazing trip to the Glorietta Bay Inn with our two small children. At check-in, we were offered a complementary upgrade once the staff saw our children. Breakfast was fantastic and the room was a nice size. The staff also lent us beach chairs and toys - and gave my daughter a new beach ball (and rubber duck and bib)! We had a wedding at the Del and had a short walk to the beach. When we got back, the staff read Goodnight Moon to my daughter. This is definitely the place to stay when coming to the area.

This hotel is across the street from the Hotel Del. Easy access to the Del, lower cost and very family friendly. The “Mansion” rooms are very large and very comfortable and are not typical hotel rooms. Each has its own theme and charm. The other rooms are hotel like and much more affordable. Very friendly staff. I have stayed at both locations and favor the Glorietta-you can visit the Del and leave the frenzy of the very large hotel behind and return to a slower pace. Lots of kids playing in the pool – buy typically only during the day, does not interfere with night time quiet.

Room Tip: Go on line, they have pictures of the Mansion rooms. And if at all possible stay in one of these la...

This is a lovely hotel and the beds are very comfortable. We stayed in one of the 2nd floor front rooms with a swing on our porch that looked out over the ocean. there was also a table and chairs out on our porch so we could eat our breakfast there if we wanted to. Though I ate breakfast in bed most of the time. Also our nightly warm cookies where delightful.

The staff was great with any of our questions or needs .
Glorietta is only a block form the sandy beach and many wonderful restaurants.
We did not rent a car so we walked every place we wanted to go.

We are looking forward to returning .

We had visited San Diego a number of times before discovering Coronado (via the city's sightseeing trolly). Our decision to stay at this location during our next visit proved to be an excellent choice!

Upon arrival we found the Glorietta to be just as beautiful as their web site promised. The view of the marina from our balcony was so soothing and inviting. Adding to the visual eye candy were the wonderfully pampered tropical flowers fllourishing throughout the property.

The Glorietta's staff were absolutely second to none! They were consistently helpful and pleasant. The front desk staff provided us with recommendations for transportation to/from the airport (flex) and for a dinner cruise. (Hornblower is the way to go...but that's another review.) The Glorietta gives attention to even the smallest details that will make your trip a pleasant experience. (They provided us with a complimentary tube of toothpaste and razor. Boy, was my husband happy they gave me that razor!) Visitors can ask to have their room tended to each morning between specific hours with just a little advance notice. (After leaving a small tip each morning, the room staff left us the sweetest note!) The Glorietta also provided beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. Who does all of that???

The Glorietta Bay's salt-water pool (lovely!) always had a ready supply of clean towels available...right next to the lemon/orange infused cold water and cups. The continental breakfast was wonderful. We often find ourselves craving a "real breakfast" while traveling. The breakfast offerings at the Glorietta changed somewhat daily, however, so we enjoyed having breakfast every morning while basking in the sun from the spacious outdoor courtyard or in the regal music room. (Go for the poppy seed muffins!) Afternoon treats of cookies and beverages near the lobby provided that little extra touch that you don't usually see.

Choosing this hotel/area, one has to understand they will experience DAYTIME street and military air noise. However, with the sliding glass door closed the noise level was fine. In spite of that, the entire area was comfortable for all of our outdoor adventures. Indeed the military air traffic added a degree of charm and pride to our visit. Another "must" is to walk around the residential areas between Orange and the beach. What absolutely beautiful estates! Take your camera! A walk south from the hotel will take you by the marina, a beautiful community center, to a nice garden, to a beautiful playground and swimming beach for children...and much, much more. Exploring Hotel del Coronado is a given.

Restaurants throughout the area were plentiful and offered a variety of dining experiences, most at reasonable prices. The special treat dinner (when not on a dinner cruise) was also possible right there in town. The shops, too, offered a variety of treasures at typiically reasonable prices.

When we settled in for the night we found our room to be quiet and the beds to be very, very comfortable. We also felt the space in our room was more than adequate. Some reviewers have commented about small bathrooms. We needed/asked for a bathroom with a bath tub. (room 217.) While the bath space is a bit compact, we found it to be comfortable for all of our needs. (An extemely overweight individual might find the tub/shower/toilet space a tad small.)

We were sad when the time came for us to leave, but it wasn't long before we started talking about our next trip to Coronado. I'm confident that you will find the same to be true for you!

Room Tip: Hint: Room 217!
