“Awesome Anniversary Dinner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

My husband and I just spent a night away to celebrate our anniversary...wow! We stayed in a mansion room (the second time we have) and it was truly elegant and warm. (We haven't stayed in their regular rooms so can't comment on those.)The staff is very friendly and really attends to the details...including a complimentary bottle of champagne. There are cookies and milk, chocolates, and a simple but delicious breakfast. Many excellent restaurants are within walking distance so you can enjoy your wine with dinner.

This is a beautiful, charming and historic boutique hotel, just the right size. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Check out their website to see the mansion rooms and make a choice...

This is the second time that I have stayed at Glorietta Bay. The staff is the most courteous I have ever encountered and very helpful. You feel like you are part of a family. Rooms are all large, have many amenities (DVD, VCR, Refrig, coffee, free wireless), quiet. Included Continental breakfast is great. Whenever in San Diego, I will be staying here.

My husband and I stayed at the Glorietta Bay Inn for two nights for our babymoon over Thanksgiving weekend. We chose this hotel because it has mostly good reviews and we did not want to dish out the extra cash to stay across the street at the Hotel del Coronado. The location is absolutely perfect! It is walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the beach. During our stay we walked over to the Hotel del Coronado (right across the street), which has many shops and things to do, but is quite crowded with tourists. We enjoyed staying at a smaller, more intimate hotel within steps to the action. The breakfast provided was nice - fruit, cereal, baked goods, yogurt, waffles, coffee/tea, etc, which could be enjoyed on the outdoor patio with other hotel guests. The hotel staff was helpful, professional and knowledgable. Our room on the second floor was spacious, cute and quiet. I read other reviews that mentioned the hotel rooms were run-down. Our room was in good shape, but the hotel is definitely not contemporary - it is a historic home converted into a hotel and definitely feels old, but well-maintained. Parking was priced reasonably for the area and conveniently located right in front of the hotel entrance. There is a small pool, but we didn't get a chance to use it so I can't comment much about that. I got the babymoon package which included an in-room prenatal massage; loved it! Overall we had a great experience here, found this hotel to be a great base for exploring Coronado and nearby parts of San Diego, and would definitely return.

I stayed at this hotel while I attended a conference at Hotel Del Coronado as it was sold out. Location is wonderful as it's close to the beach, close to the main town with all the shops and restaurants. I lucked out with a room looking over the bay which was a treat. For a family with any small children this place is no good as it has no tubs, only a shower. Great continental breakfast with fruits, cereal and pastry/muffins. The one gross thing I experienced was a man in the hot tub that I later realized was a clean cut street person as he showered and rode off on his bike after leaving the hot tub and I found his band-aids sitting beside the hot tub. That's wrong! I reported this but for a high end place this should not happen. It was ok but would not stay there if I was to bring my family here on vacation.

My wife and I have been to this Hotel twice and even though it is a little pricey we really like it. The staff are very nice and the breakfast is great. If you eat breakfast outside on the patio don't leave your food unattended or you might have some uninvited feathered guests eating off your plate when you return.

Some of the rooms look like they might not have the best view due to an apartment building across the street. Both of our rooms were great and we had a great view of the bay. You can't beat the location.

We'll be back.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a view go check out the room first. Some rooms on the side street face the ba...

We recently stayed in a "Mansion" room which was alright, but nothing great. The bathroom was quite small (no tub) though that is not atypical for an historical hotel. The view was only of the ventilatory system for other parts of the hotel. There was a $10 charge for parking, even though there was only a surface lot in front of the hotel (and there was not any space in it at check in). It is right across the street from the "Del" which is nice, but, with the various charges, it came close to costing us almost as we'd have spent if we'd just stayed at the Del in the first place. It probably makes a big difference which room you get, as others had a much better experience.
